While there may be room for improvement in different aspects of the zombies, I have two suggestions about their skin design.
Uno! I do not like the zombie's current outfit. One should assume gargling around in a cave for half a thousand years would at least bleach some color out of that pretty blue shirt of his. Ask yourself this: what kind of clothes might you expect a person living in an ancient civilization to wear? Then sap some color from it, add some wear and tear, and presto! Perfect zombie outfit for mass production!
It just seems to me out of place for a zombie to wear tattered Steve clothes. What are the chances that Steve's choice of clothing before he gets lost in the wilderness happens to be a thousand-year-old fad? The zombies must be, like, his greatest fans ever. If I were Steve, my response to the first zombie I see, which looks like a dead myself, would probably be: "Oh, come on now. Show me the cameras. What are you doing? I got the stupid joke, you can quit it. You killed my sense of humor. What ar-- There is such thing as a personal space bubble. You have crossed into my personal space bubble!" Then the undead me would bite a chunk out of my neck and I'm dead. What should any person who watches television think?
Are these supposed to be cursed corpses of an ancient civilization, or nightmare-undead clones of myself summoned to freak the snot out of me? I'm confused.
Dos! This one needs less explaining. When in an abandoned mineshaft, I believe there should be a slim chance of a zombie spawning with a miner's outfit on, carrying either a pickaxe or a shovel. This must not be simple blue overalls, funny boots, and a yellow tin cap, but something more... ancient-looking, and... zombyish. They would have a slight chance of dropping gold nuggets or worn pickaxes.
Ignoring the humorous dialogue, this is actually pretty good. Although, this could be the spark for ANOTHER flame war. Nonetheless, I support, #fighttheflames

Have you ever considered Steve just respawns when he dies? What if Zombies were his previous bodies, which explain why they have his clothes?

Hi! I like shorts! They're comfy and easy to wear!

Yeah, that explains it very well. I like them having steve clothes. And, ahem, that also explains why you never find the body afterwards, the zombie... umm... turns invisible.

Knowing how random Minecraft can get, that could be quite possible.

Ah! Yes, forgot that one. Thank you Rex.
Thanks for reading. What do you folks think?
And...
Tres! Zombie Villagers should wear villager robes

Well, no, but I think that a large group of others might have preferred special clothing. They probably had more variety in their closets.
I have adjusted the OP.
