Makes sense, I have an overabundance of coal so I've never needed to make charcoal. But since they are different things seems like they should look visually different somehow.
I would defiantly suppourt this. Maybe a more squarish model, like real charcoal squares. Also i would love to see them drop from burning trees as well as in furnaces.
I understand your reasoning but why? They do the exact same thing. I suppose if you had a ton of both...

I see no point. They serve the EXACT same purpose. If you renamed a stack of charcoal to coal on an anvil, you would never be able to tell the difference. I would actually support smelting wood to produce normal coal, because it is pointless to have them not be able to stack together.
