So I was messing around with enchantments and thought about how well Gold enchants compared to Diamond or Iron. What if there were a way to get such enchantment levels on Iron or diamond Armor, tools, and Swords?
Present Gilding! Gilding is often seen as adding a light decorative trim to armor or swords, often using gold.
So, how about adding a fully repaired chest plate and a gold bar in an anvil, and getting Gilded armor? You get the durability of Diamond or Iron, with the enchanting ability of Gold?
I say Anvil though, for the XP cost. The cost for gilding should be reasonably high for the set. Diamond having a higher cost than Iron, and higher cost depending on what piece of armor is in there.
Heres an example (Minus XP costs):
Well, that's basically my idea.

Iron increasing durability should also be added then. and diamond could increase damage if it's a sword. Or protection if it's armour.
But what do you mean gold enchanting?
Gold armor, tools, and weapons have the highest enchantability to balance out their low durability. This is a suggestion to give a way to combine the enchantability of gold with the durability of iron or diamond.Anyways, support.
I don't do much enchanting myself besides silk touch. SO if there were to be gilded armor i would prefer it would have durability reasons rather then enchantment.

It's not worth it though. Unless they had gold have double the power for enchantments (sharpness 2-10, protection 2-8, etc), then it would be worth it. Wouldn't work with looting or fortune though, too overpowered.
