"If only, if only, the woodpecker cried. The bark on the trees was as soft as the skies."
Yea. Not much. But something may happen. While at this point in the previous update. We knew it was the horse update or a mob update. For 1.7 we see from sunflowers to impact particles to resource pack interchanging to terrain tweets from jeb. This seems like a really abstract update and anything could happen from here on out.
Heres hoping.
And no. I mean it. Anything could happen.
Don't lie, you know it's true.
But seriously, this is probably the single best idea I've EVER seen for this game. With no exaggeration. I predict that the SECOND this mod becomes available it will become more or less standard on most multiplayer servers to the point it will almost have to be added to vanilla just for the sake of simplicity.
1 exception. The horses they actually had help from Dr. Zhark, The maker of the Mo' creatures mod.
Yeah, except this concept has been brought up and heavily supported multiple times. Notch's answer is "cubic chunks don't work" or "we can't do cubic chunks" even when perfect examples of fully functional cubic chunk mods like this one exist.
But you're right, he'd never accept a functional working solution, he'd have to rewrite it from scratch and everything would end up torqued up.
Not only mods. But functional voxel engines that are entirely separate from MC work. Like nocte's hexahedra
Eh, because of the storage requirements and terrain generation techniques employed in MC, it can't easily be related to other voxel engines. We're talking about modifying an existing engine with backward compatibility, so I get that it's harder than just writing a cubic engine from square one. But the point remains the same, mods exist that can do it, and do it well.
But the only time they accept help on things they manage to find the worst possible version of it to implement (gah, lame friggin horses) or they hire a team that's great at what they do, and then have them making fireworks instead =-_-=
And I know that if (and hopefully when) this becomes available as a mod I am going to use it.
Why?
I used to use a mod that doubled the terrain generation height. All of it. The sea level was put at 128 instead of 64, the rock layer doubled, the build height doubled before it was so in vanilla Minecraft itself. The mountains were amazing, the creativity flowed more freely, and it was mining bliss when used with a properly tweaked Metallurgy. The best part, however, was (or could have been? It has been so long since I used that mod, I am unsure if Large Biomes were a thing when the mod existed) the synergy between the doubled generation height and Large Biomes further increasing the size of features such as mountains. Alas, last time I checked (which was months ago; perhaps it has been revived or replaced...however, I cannot know as I have forgotten the names of both the mod and it's creator) the mod was abandoned and forgotten. This mod could give that mining bliss back to me, and more.
It's not true. And saying such things about any developer really ticks me off; because you couldn't do any better. And if you can, then post your code and the company will likely use it (something many people forget).
2 exceptions, the lava flow fix came directly from MC-4631 and it's corresponding thread on the forums. I'm fairly certain there are more.

Wow. Glad you like the suggestion. Very few mentions have ever been made from mojang. Most nitpicking thinking it's impossible or terrible lighting bugs. But the Proof of concept mod has almost none of those issues. 2 small and easily fixable lighting issues, and only 1 big one that is also fixable but hard. And it only causes some lag spikes. The source is from when i had a talk with calac on the cc discussion server. So once all bugs are fixed we may be able to sent it to FireRockerzstudios in his community speaks section to spread the word. He has 150,000+ subscribers and is getting more at a decently quick rate. He showcased witch huts 1 week before they were released. I am considering contacting him about this suggestion.
You either forgot or you have not started learning algebra, you should know that * is used for multiplication not x; 0x indicates a hexadecimal variable, but some times h is used.

It would be epic if the next snap shot used cubic chunks!
Thanks for clearing that up! Now I haz more computer knowledges. But didn't he use all F's?
On topic: my brother had an idea to start a wiki for this suggestion. Anyone else wanna go for it?
They remain the same. The only difference is that those views are rendered in smaller, cube-shaped chunks instead of large rectangles.

Meh, I think something should only have a wiki if it has lots of information people need to remember. (A wiki is usually used as a reference source.)
The things like that are the main reason I'm supporting this. And because I consider this to be a stepping stone to better terrain generation.
Beautiful quote, where is it from?
That is wonderful news! I've always thought Youtube would be the best way to gather support for this. (After directly asking Mojang.) Whenever I thought about it, I always thought in terms of how to get the attention of a VERY popular Youtuber, I never really thought about a mid level channel. This could be the beginning of the end.
As it will be in the future, it was at the birth of Man
There are only four things certain since Social Progress began.
That the Dog returns to his Vomit and the Sow returns to her Mire,
And the burnt Fool's bandaged finger goes wabbling back to the Fire;
And that after this is accomplished, and the brave new world begins
When all men are paid for existing and no man must pay for his sins,
As surely as Water will wet us, as surely as Fire will burn,
The Gods of the Copybook Headings with terror and slaughter return!

There actually is 1 needle i think. It is a bit confusing and i don't think it is a big one.
