There isn't anything to report at the moment, but keep your eyes peeled.
Sorry, I didn't make it clear. I was trying to say that you can already troll people with massive falls.
I believe in the Invisible Pink Unicorn, bless her Invisible Pinkness.
He said resource intensive. So prob. Not. D:
There is always a space for optimization.

The terrain in that picture would certainly work brilliantly well with CC...
An optimist would say that they are thinking about this kind of terrain because they are thinking about increasing the height limit.
A different optimist might say that, in the process of thinking about that sort of terrain, the Mojangers will realize just how restrictive the linear chunks system is, and maybe consider doing something about it.

I hope it's just experimentation. If the terrain goes all the way up to 256 blocks high almost everywhere, then everything would look uglier than the terrain we have already.
Though it would make sense if CC was getting implemented.
I think the crazy terrain Jeb posted is meant to be a new world type.

This mod is still in work, right? I made an account just to vote the first comment and follow the thread. I'm on a laptop too, and higher end games lag less than minecraft. Like, all the way. Snow makes the game completely unplayable, all I can do is play undergorund forever, and it stil lags. Superflat Survival also allows me to play. Villages kill my computer.
Plus this idea just seams awesome, much more possibilities could be achieved with that. There could only be benefits. Even if we leave the actual heaght limit. I don't care, it would work better.
For water, we could make the water evaporate after falling, there could be solutions. Or just letting it fall, when water gets into new chunk, unload the higher chunk after a 12 ticks if no more changes happen to it.
Everything has a solution I'm 100% sure of that, I missed 80 pages of posts taugh, so excuse me if I misunderstood or if I'm missing knowledge.

Not really, since biomes are chunk based already, the biomes mod would just have to take into account a third axis. It would instead allow biome mods to become even more awesome with additions such as underground biomes, sky biomes, space biomes(if you go up high enough), 20000 Leagues under the sea biomes.
Biomes are not chunk based. Each x/z coordinate essentially has its own biome. It would be possible to do 3d biomes in the linear system, Cubic Chunks just makes it much easier to do this.

You are correct.
Serves me right for posting after 20+hrs of not sleeping.
Meaning that I can keep mining downwards without hitting bedrock?
Yeah, pretty much. Cubic Chunks supports infinite depth.
Note that admins would still be able to set a depth limit if they wanted to.

None of the Mojangsters are stupid, they just didn't implement this system. Please don't say things like that, it makes the community look bad.
[quote=Badgerz]You have to keep in mind that people are stupid.
[quote=Catelite]Just because you don't understand how something works, doesn't make it broken or pointless. >_<
