this would just make it so that there would be no arbitary limits on heighth, the limit could be set, like it would be optional. same as depth.
i want this so bad, think of underground biomes, or sky biomes, all generating on top of eachother, ugh! huge underground mushroom forests! dwarf cities! sky fortressess.
these abilities would change the game fundamentally
I find myself agreeing with you. Hopefully the plugin API will be able to modify terrain generation, since then it wouldn't even need mods (*remembers the pain and frustration of trying to update mods to MC 1.6.x*).

So someone must make a topic discussing about "The effect and changes to other aspects of Minecraft and its mods with the addition of Cubic Chunks".
OcD Simple Add-On!
Great Question! Now go read the FAQ.
Thanks for pointing that out. My first post was in this topic too, by the way.

Mostly moved on. May check back a few times a year.
This update would possibly be the greatest thing to happen to the MC engine.
That could mean anything. Sounds a lot more likely to be something like the Mod/Plugin API, considering that it's hardly as gameplay related as this. I also think that something like Cubic Chunks would be more of Jeb's job to be working on, considering he seems to do more of the engine work; Dinnerbone seems more for small gameplay features and UI improvements. If they are considering this, I assume they want to wait for the mod to be finished and then directly input that in the vanilla game via. update IF it delivers all of its promises.
Since many of the more recent updates have included a significant amount of decorative content (colored clay, carpets, quartz, hay blocks etc), I would not be surprised if things like colored beds and chests were on the todo list. More ambient flora and fauna (flowers, grasses, birds, etcetera) would make also make the game look significantly better.
However, despite how pretty they try to make the game, by adding different colored blocks, or useless new flowers, I highly doubt that they could add anything that looks better than the terrain that could be generated with Cubic Chunks.

Already possible.
I agree that the terrain generation and Creative builds not limited by height made possible by Cubic Chunks far outclass EVERYTHING currently suggested for addition to Minecraft, (not to mention the reduced lag) but I don't really mind small updates that make the game more aesthetically pleasing. However, we agree they should focus on adding Cubic Chunks first, and everything else later.
It really would. That's the main reason I'm supporting it.
