I wasn't talking about physically tricking the client that unloaded chunks were bedrock, I meant that to be an analogy of a system which made it impossible to enter an unloaded chunk without teleporting (as if it was solid) and if you did teleport into it, freeze you until the chunk loads. That, again, would still fix the issue of glitching inside of a block when you teleport somewhere.
You're probably talking about client-side chunk errors, and those are entirely different. Those are rendering bugs.
Excellent suggestion, we should probably use that as the model for the statement.
You realize there are quite a lot of good things this will enable once you think about it. And we should put an emphasis on the problems Cubic Chunks fixes as well as the new possibilities it creates.
That is an excellent idea! I wish I would've thought of it.

It doesn't matter what kind of error. He means those times when there is basically just a big square hole cut into the world. If you walk into the hole, you get frozen.
As for servers... the server does most of the work in terms of chunks. Laggy internet connections are something there is no fix for whatsoever, beyond finding some way of compressing the chunks ridiculously, which still does not address high latency. Anyway, provided the server is keeping up with the player, there is no problem. Similarly on SSP; if your computer can keep up, nothing will go wrong.
If the computer can't keep up, we can do nothing more than tell the admin to get off his ass and spend hundreds of dollars buying or renting a better one, or remove one of the worlds on his box.
We can try to emphasize loading the chunks below the player when the player is moving downwards. We can try to use the "empty" and "solid" tags to speed up the process a little bit. It may be possible to make a top-block array of every chunk directly below an "empty" chunk, and this could be quickly queried to determine where, or if, the player will land without having to wait for the entire chunk to load.
But these are never going to 100% solve the problem. They may help, they may do nothing, hell, they may even be counter productive. The most complete, and guaranteed solution is just to cap the falling speed to a point where the computer should be able to keep up. As someone said a few posts ago, it has been discussed, and since it is one of the few disadvantages, it has been discussed quite thoroughly. I simply thought up a couple of creative ideas, but none of them looked like they were going to go anywhere.

MOJANG GET OVER HERE NOW! I WILL (won't) PAY YOU 1000000 DOLLARS ONCE YOU GET HERE AND ADD THIS IN!
I have a new account called "Mushroomsock" now, so please do not send me PMs.
You WILL NOT use profanity in this topic. It is against the rules and it damages the integrity of this suggestion.

And? It's that fiery place right? A word used by the very text that describes it? It's not like he even used the verb 'damn' in conjuction with it (or even properly capitalized it.)
Mostly moved on. May check back a few times a year.
He also said hell.

Well, I've reported him for it. It's up to the moderator now.

What are you, twelve? I could report you for double posting but I won't because I am mature.
Anyway, Cubic Chunks would be wonderful if implemented correctly. It could be annoying if it is implemented incorrectly.

Physiological maturity is not defined by age, nor is neglecting your duties as a forum member correct.

I was just linked here from Reddit, its good to see that the concept is being spread around and hopefully it will get Mojang's attention soon, keep it up community.

I am a true blue Australian from a very bogan family. My culture is renowned for it's leniency with what is and is not considered "offensive" or "profane". Where I live, the F and C words emerge about twice each per sentence in casual conversation, or at least given your reaction, enough to make your entire family want to set us on fire, or buy earmuffs and earplugs if you're against violence and conflict.
Hell is just a fiery place where the souls of sinners go when they die. I personally do not understand why this is considered profane, or even rude for that matter.
As for the bit about the admin... either he gets up off his buttocks, or he gets up off his spangling new donkey (which also involves him getting up off his buttocks). I honestly intended both, with the donkey bit being a reference to the recent hornless unicorn imitation update.
Whether or not this language is found offensive is totally dependent on how right wing the reader is, and is certainly not considered offensive in my own culture. Impolite and informal in some specific circumstances, but profane? Only if the Queen came to visit, and you were speaking to her in person. I am not saying that this gives me a right to curse and so forth, and I am not going to use it as an excuse. I will simply say profanity is highly subjective, and just because one person finds something offensive does not mean that it is necessarily profane.
Anyway, it was not my intention to offend, and I apologize if I have done so. For the sake of ending the argument at this, I will refrain from using such language in the future.

Thanks for pointing that out.
Thank you, I truly appreciate it.

Double posting is not against the rules. However, profanity is the first thing on the "Do Not" list. Insulting someone else is also on the "Do Not" list. So, you have broken the one of the rules, and then accused me of breaking the rules in your next sentence. (Which I have not.) Not a very classy move.
