I really do hope that this is made a thing soon, it would really allow older PCs to get into Minecraft a bit more, as well as allowing Modpack servers, specifically Modsauce (Basically what I watch on Youtube now), since chunk loading is causing the server's CPU to max out. Come to think of it, how will this affect automatically chunk-loading quarries? Specifically the Ender Quarry from Extra Utilities. Normally this shouldn't be a problem, but at max speed, the Ender Quarry can get from surface level (64, approximately) to bedrock in just under a second. To clarify, the Ender Quarry mines up and down, not left to right. It automatically chunl-loads chunks that it is working in. Would this become a major lag problem between the barely loaded or unloaded chunks to be mined and the mega fast quarry?
thats 80 ~ 400 chunks with this system. So if you are if you are mining an area 100 blocks by 100 blocks then you could probably let it blast out a good 100~130 blocks down with out bothering anyone. Then the rig could lower and do it again.
honestly though I think..... new chunk system.... new auto minning system.

I just think stuff like this up, I may know how it will work but I don't know how to implement it.

Curse PremiumThat's not really how it works at all.
There's no reason to make a chunk 40 blocks tall; it's currently already a power of 2 so making it not a power of 2 would just complicate things. Also, making the horizontal dimensions 32 blocks would mean you'd need to combine existing chunks in groups of 4, unlike the 16x16x16 system.
I'm probably the wrong person to be trying to explain this stuff, if anyone could explain this better than I could that would be nice.

Ah, now I see. I was trying to make the world generation faster by only having to load a few chunks at a time. However, the world conversion wouldn't work with that.
It was a good idea, just not one that really works out very well

Curse PremiumIf anything, larger chunks would mean that people with REALLY bad computers can't reduce the settings low enough to play, because the chunks are so big that even on a 3x3x3 area you're loading 1105920 blocks. (32 * 32 * 40 * (3 * 3 * 3))
On a smaller scale of 163 chunks, you have the option of ((3 * 3 * 3) * 16 * 16 * 16), which equals 110592. Exactly 1/10 of Tis_awesomeness's proposition. And with only one large chunk loaded, you couldn't walk between chunks! You would have to jump where ever the border would be, and hope that it loads under your feet before you land.
And don't worry about world conversion working, theoretically, schematic files would be safely transferable, meaning all your structures and worlds would be safe!
Redstone contraptions that are sensitive to chunk loading may have to be redesigned though.

Because the poll closed several months ago.

Everyone else has already said just about everything I would.
Since they have a bit more knowledge about it, they've also said it better than I could have.
If implemented,
this would be the greatest feature ever implemented.
Even surpassing the addition of command blocks, IMHO.
Command blocks have limits. Cubic Chunks would break the world size limits, pushing them to the infinite limit...

The poll is closed, and voting in it isn't really necessary anymore. We already know the vast majority of people who find this suggestion approve of it. There's no logical reason to NOT implement it, unless you think something else would be more beneficial to the gameplay and long-term popularity of the game. The best thing to do now is find a way to convince the developers to implement it without making ourselves obnoxious to them.

That the Dog returns to his Vomit and the Sow returns to her Mire,
And the burnt Fool's bandaged finger goes wabbling back to the Fire;
And that after this is accomplished, and the brave new world begins
