Curse PremiumGravel itself doesn't cause slow world saving, if you place 1000000 blocks of gravel it would save normally. But if the gravel is added in 1 tick - it's a problem. Adding 1 gravel block = shedule 1 block update for next tick + shedule 8 neightbor block updates (also next tick). In loaded chunks there may be up to 100000 gravel blocks. 1 tick = up to 1000 block updates - if there are more they will bw done in next ticks. List of pending block updates is one hash table, when saving world they must be saved (and they are saved per chunk). For each chunk it must chech all pending block updates, if block is in chunk - save it.
Normally there are about 8000 chunk cubes to save. If gravel generation is enabled there may be up to 800000 pending block updates. Totally 8000*800000 = 6400000000 (6.4 * 10^9) iterations must be done to save all chunks.
//EDIT: I really don't know why vanilla Minecraft saves it with normal speed... I'm going to do some tests.

also you should check out Tall Worlds
I think it's a European convention... Barteks is probably German or something.
I believe in the Invisible Pink Unicorn, bless her Invisible Pinkness.
I know its a german thing, i dont know about other countries.
With each of us having a normal life outside of this, work/school/sleep/family+many other more important obligations, it's amazing that this much progress has occurred so quickly. Barteks2x is doing an incredible thing here!
My only regret is that his work was ever publicly announced at all. Would have been better if nothing were said until a solid base version was ready to release. Thread pressure like this has always caused more problems than not for development, causing things like early buggy releases and stress that causes modders to quit.
* Until something new is ready to release, and you know we'll tell you, please enjoy messing around with the original beta 1.7.3 Cubic Chunks in this link [ here ]. There are still people building cities and such with it.

Mmmmm.
Anyway, Aaron, how did you get on getting the old CC put into a launcher?
I believe in the Invisible Pink Unicorn, bless her Invisible Pinkness.
Yes! No pressure. You're doing a great job. Take your time, and don't rush. I look forward to seeing the end product.
Strange. I got it to work for the new launcher earlier...
I would send you a working profile in a .zip for you to use but I don't have mediafire or anything. Maybe I could Email you with an attached document? Gonna get working on making it to work again.
First tree I saw
On topic:
I did it!
Supporting this suggestion is the major reason I joined the forums.
We absolutely need this.
Just one noob question though... Does anyone from Mojang ever check this neck of the woods? If not, then upon what mountain top and in which direction do I need to scream to get this rolling asap?
Mojang IS aware of the suggestion, but has brought up a few concerns, which is why the mod is being made: a proof of concept.
