Me too!
Thanks everyone! Your enthusiasm is incredible.
We aren't yet at an "Alpha" testing point. Barteks2x is in the process of updating the code for mc1.6.4 as well as taking care of other important code management tasks. After that the code will be going through Dev Team review for code integration and patching. There are a number of fundamental issues to be resolved and decided with the code base and such before a "Basic" alpha version can be released.
* Please remember folks; we don't want others and Mojang pointing to the first newer CC release they see and saying "See, it doesn't work the way we expected, and blah blah blah...". No, we want to blow their socks off "AGAIN", right? So please continue to have patience.

Keep up the good work!
No, it's not yet in alpha.
Sorry, it's too early to even think about such things right now.
If you are jonesing to build with Cubic Chunks and World Edit then please make a "Classic Cubic Chunks 1.5.1" Profile with the new Minecraft Launcher then set it to use minecraft beta 1.7.3. Then follow the for modding inside of the new launcher to install Cubic Chunks 1.5.1 for b1.7.3. After that install WorldEditXT into it. Then you will be able to build in a Cubic Chunks World and use at least some World Edit features, though not all.
It should eventually be possible to upgrade that world save's format to the newest modern CC save format with a hopefully upgraded version of Robinton's Save converter (the source code is public).

Infinite underground would need a much higher spawn rate of just about everything you need to find under the earth which would inevitably cause major overlapping in some areas. Also, if the user sets the bedrock to spawn than there is instantly created of limit of depth.

This suggestion changes nothing about terrain generation. There are no 'settings' to change max depth. This is not a suggestion to change terrain, and it never will be. Maybe, after this system is implemented, a suggestion for terrain changes utilizing the new space can be posted, but now is not the time. It's like asking Mojang to implement the Better Than Wolves mod into vanilla, but including a request to create sheep and pig cubes in the same suggestion. One comes before the other.
Thank you, now I understand it a little more. However where would the bedrock go? If the underground turns unlimited than the block that limits things is then deleted. Bedrock would no longer exist except for creative inventory.
On another note: I'm a bit annoyed that you assumed this system is going to be implemented.

I am confused as to why are you so worried about bedrock?
Except for creative users, there is no way to use it, so removing it from world gen(not the game, just map generation) is just like removing the world boundaries when they switched over to infdev.
And if you are worried because you use a mod that requires bedrock for something, the mod can always implement bedrock nodules at whatever depth they want.
I don't think that was an assumption of "cubic chunks is definitely going to implemented" so much as it was pointing out when it would be appropriate to discuss suggesting terrain generation options afforded by the implementation of cubic chunks in vanilla.
Since the latter depends on the former's implementation it's only natural to use the word "after."
