I changed my location too.

also you should check out Tall Worlds
Those without locations, please change it to "In a Cubic Chunk" or a variant of this. You guys have nothing to lose in that text field.
There's no way he can 'just change it to allow infinite chunks', current terrain generation is based off of chunks currently anyway. He could technically emulate generating normal terrain with CC by creating a copy of the current chunk classes to reference when generating terrain, but this would be inefficient and would need to be corrected later. Things like the Biome Populator and Cave Generator classes entirely work by chunk, and with just CC without modifying them, you get 16x laggy cave & biome generation which is buggy. In the CC mod Pre-Alpha 4, I noticed that Bartex just completely disabled those in the meantime.
Forge compatibility is not the focus of Bartex, if you want to use Forge & CC together you'd need to contact the creators of Minecraft Forge. They handle their API and have a ton of releases. As for writing CC generation plugins, that would be very difficult and require an entire plugin system to be added, documented, and the hardest part, hope that people will write something for it.
Indeed! Generating custom terrain below or above is very little more laggy then generating chunks horizontally which aren't exactly the same either.
Recently structures including Mineshafts and villages were changed to individual .dat files (hence the release of 1.6.3 and 1.6.4 to correct old worlds). Would this be capable of making it less laggy?
[quote=Badgerz]You have to keep in mind that people are stupid.
[quote=Catelite]Just because you don't understand how something works, doesn't make it broken or pointless. >_<
Maybe plug-ins are impractical, but what about add-ons like Thaumic Tinkerer?
I don't mod minecraft, but I know a bit of programming. When I said to keep the generation normal, I know he would have to redo it I just meant to try to keep it as close a he can. I don't know much about plugin systems, so if you say they are hard than I will believe you. I am not experienced in mc specifically, as for forge, I know it's not priority, but I was just musing. I got overexcited. Anyway if this goes into vanilla there will be plugins because the plugin api is on it's way unless mojang keeps putting it off but with the new /give command using the minecraft:blablah and having nbt tags they are obviously trying to prepare.
Thanks for the support! I also made my Minecraft Forum account just to support this, and I primarily want it implemented because it limits what I can create. I have also wondered how anyone could think things like horses and flowers could be better for Minecraft than this.

Soooo.. ~250 posts here? That's 12 pages.
OcD Simple Add-On!
Well, dedication shows itself.
Well, about 25 of those posts were probably on other topics. But some of those posts were on other topics just to show my Cubic Chunks signature to get more support.
If anything is said of me, let it be said I was a champion of Cubic Chunks.
To be more precise, a proof-of-concept mod has already been made. Another one is being made for at least three different reasons.
1. To show that Cubic Chunks can work in the current version of Minecraft.
2.To help gather more support from the community by giving them actual in-game proof. Something they can use and see how much more beneficial it is than horses and flowers.
3. Possibly to save Mojang some work. If an actual Cubic Chunks mod is created, they could basically just use it and put it in the game. I believe they have already done something similar to this with horses.

/r/minecraft post
i would do /r/minecraft first.
I'm not exactly sure how hard it is, but I know it's a lot harder than someone simply making a mod. But yes, there will be the Mod/Plugin API once Mojang releases it. I think they originally said it was going to come out in 1.4. Big delays.
Short answer: Yes.
Longer answer: We're not sure to what extent. Dinnerbone referred to this on his twitter a few weeks ago now when someone tweeted at him that cubic chunks would make amplified terrain less laggy, and he replied he didn't think that cubic chunks would fix that problem (some people disagree, saying it WOULD make amplified more smooth). As far as I know, that's the only reference made to this by a Mojang Employee. If any of them have fully read the post, and if they are even considering the idea, we don't know. That's one of the goals of the mod; prove how well this can work and that it can work, and to spread awareness. (And maybe make it less work on their part if they decide to implement it because the code is already there for them.)
