We assume this system will be implemented because there is no rational excuse (Other than laziness) not to implement it. There is no "bad part" to this system, other than the amount of work it would take to implement it.
By using language with which we display the fact we assume it will be implemented, we take the offensive. They say attitude is half the battle. I do not know if that is true, but I think, (As Calacbolg said) we should play to win.

In any case, I posted this suggestion to get it into Vanilla, and I'm playing to win.
I have yet to hear one cogent reason for this not to be a part of vanilla.
Minecraft was unique and original when it came out, but it does not have a monopoly on these traits. Long-term, there is no room for arbitrary limit in a game that appeals to imagination and abstraction.
It still has an equally likely chance of not being put in the game. If you're looking for a reason why not I think it's because of the massive amounts of programming that'd be needed. Plus they'd probably have to do away with the anvil system which allowed them that current 250 something block height.

While you are correct, i dont agree with your reasoning. Mojang might not want to incorporate it because to the public it looks like they are incredibly lazy, since 1.6 was community code (mo creatures) too.
On the other hand, bartesx (im pretty sure im spelling that wrong) is making it a proof of concept so all mojang has to do is add it, which makes sense if we want them to be more likely to add it.
Anvil format is based on the world format of the original cubic chunks mod. Checkmate.
Considering that working versions of this mod have already been coded by lay community members, it's not helpful to say that this is just too challenging for Mojang.

Xrayers are bad, and you should feel bad. Mining is very easy, there's no need to use a mod that stops rendering anything except ores.
Pretty much the only people who DON'T want X-ray to be ruined in SMP are the people who use it, and those people shouldn't be allowed to play SMP at all.
I also wouldn't call it "unfair" to mod makers; by that logic, EVERY update Mojang makes would be "unfair". Also, I don't know much about how Minecraft works, but I wouldn't say a mod that chooses certain blocks to not render would be terribly hard to make (correct me if I'm wrong about that, though).
I think using external sources to majorly affect the gameplay of an online multiplayer game, especially when such things are cheating, could be classified as hacking.
And I'm not even mentioning your capitalization issues. At least you don't appear to have any major grammar, spelling, or punctuation problems.

I'm not aware of any "features" in the current pre-test version that didn't already exist in either the ancient 'Cubic Chunks 1.5.1' or '1.5.2 PTM High Terrain' versions for beta 1.7.3, either of which you can still get and use in the proper set up. Unless, of course, you mean the features present in the current Minecraft itself, which is totally understandable. But also know that this Barteks2x pre-test version wouldn't really give you access to all of that even right now.
There is much to be done, but it is all doable. Best to satisfy your needs as well as prepare yourself for the Cubic Future by going back and enjoying the Cubic Past right now.
X-Ray has made every Hard-Core server a complete joke and waste of time. Anyone who tells you they have sufficient protection on their server against it is either outright lying so they can keep making money or are mistaken and being made a fool of. The nicest and most upright seeming of folks can be found to be cheating with it, even if only because they are tired of all the dirt-bags cheating with it and ruining their fun.
Either way, none of you x-ray users have any idea how much fun a proper server can be without such a possibility for cheating. You might actually find yourself having to strategize and think for a change.
In any case; I know some devs that might actually be able to make a minecraft server that only delivers the data you are allowed to see, and build it into CC. However; it will require a complete rewrite of how Minecraft does certain things as well as completely redoing the world save format, which would work well for Cubic Chunks anyway. That will be for the future though, don't expect that for the first versions of CC.
Honestly though, Mojang might actually pull that off too, they are even redoing minecraft networking with a far more robust system as we speak. Minecraft itself may finally be getting closer to a sea-change where some of its greatest potentials are finally realized, at this point I would no longer be completely surprised.

Not that big of a problem to turn up the range of the sphere to allow the large builds to be within your own render, but... it might force them to rethink their map designs.

That is why we need chunk loaders, so that they don't have problems with stuff like that. Also in this post I would like to mention here that there is a difference between loading and rendering. Loading a chunk just means it's basic functions such as mobs moving, water flowing, and red stone transferring. Rendering creates more lag than loading because rendering forces your comp to redraw more every time mc runs through it's main rendering loop. The game cannot continue until it does. It will however, make lags spikes that occur when the game saves a lot bigger, though not more frequent. It will create some extra lag, but not as much as biggering (it's a word dammit) your render distance.
PS any news on the mod being released? The sooner it gets out, the sooner it gets popular, and probably the sooner Mojang decides to add it in.

Also no, I haven't checked this all that much. I hope it gives mojang ideas, but... an endless world both higher and lower might not be a good idea, as it would mean recoding caves and items within them, such as ores and dungeons. Now a nice endless skybox would work well! think of the max size of the world! with no cap maps within the sky can be made to showcase long halls mixed with stairs that endlessly travel up or down, to give a place a haunting creepy feel.
How many times do I have to tell people this doesn't change the underground at ALL? This suggestion is PURELY inner game mechanics, it doesn't alter actual gameplay at all besides removing the height limit so you can build as high into the sky as you want.
