Introduction
Minecraft world generation and exploration is a bit plain. Now, this isn't a thread suggesting 'ADD BIG DUNGEONS!!!' or 'BRING BAECK ALPHA GEN!'. No, this thread attempts to detail how we can improve current exploration and generation.
Themes
We will touch on different themed areas. These are:
Grasslands
Forested
Deserted
Water
Other
Archipelagos
Themes are a cluster of biomes with their own specific characteristics, villagers and blocks. They also have subthemes which are smaller subdivisions of a theme.
These include:
Low Jungle
Bushy Jungle
High Jungle
Oak
Large Oak
Mixed Oak
Birch
Pine
Snowy Pine
Grassland
Savannah
Oak Hills
Birch Hills
Pine Hills
Jungle Hills
There can be more than 1 subtheme in a theme. Subthemes also dictate what type of tree, animals, flowers, terrain and geological features.
World Generation
World Generation now isn't very good. Rolly hills, suddenly high mounains then rolly hills then suddenly plains! Let's fix that.
There would be a few new geographical features. Here they are along with current ones.
Bluffs are very steep hills leading into rivers and oceans. They would be hard to climb and generally require lots of jumping.
Peninsulas are long spits of land bordered by ocean. Their beaches are thin and sometimes gravel.
Lagoons are located on extra wide beaches. They are really a long, shallow lake separated from the ocean by sand.
Archipelagos are a type of theme. They involve a long strand of small islands with one or two large ones. These islands may be jungle subthemed or grassland subthemed. Forest subthemes are impossible.
Dunes are wavy, sandy hills with a distinctive peak. They don't have any dead bushes on them either.
Cliffs are like bluffs but steeper and made of stone.
I don't know, seems to be mostly terrain. When I'm exploring, I'm not worried about the terrain most of the time. I'm more looking out for cool things the terrain is hiding from me. Which is why I burn down jungles.
I look for cool terrain... Then again, we don't have the epic crazy unrealistic mountains of Glacier anymore, so that's basically impossible to find. Back on topic, sounds decent... But with so many sub-biomes and new geographical features, sounds too hard to code really. I prefer the idea from the "Why Seeds Are Useless" thread, which they actually explained how it could be coded to an extent, and would bring back epic mountains...

Curse PremiumIt still has to do with world generation, and I don't see how it adds new things to exploration.
