I've been thinking for a while, you know how you make a pickaxe or sword, or any tool really, but then you have that 1 piece of material left. 1 diamond, 1 gold, 1 iron! I've been thinking that with that one piece left over, you could make an arrow head! So then you could make a wooden arrow, a stone arrow an iron arrow etc. There would still be flint arrows, except you cant make stronger arrows then just flint this way. So in order of least strongest to strongest it would be: Wood, flint, stone, gold, iron, diamond. NOW THERES AN ACTUAL DECENT USE OF GOLD!!!! Please comment and share you thoughts of approval, disagreement and if you have any cool modifications to my idea!
Good idea. But I think perhaps make the following changes:
-Remove stone arrows. Unrealistic. (Also, as stated earlier, makes flint arrows obselete).
-Make wooden arrow-head arrows flammable. (Not necessary, I just think it'd be a nice idea.)
-Make golden arrows have a little something extra to add power (not sure what, but people won't use them unless they're stronger, seeing as iron is much easier to accumulate), perhaps make them enchantable or something.
-Make arrow heads a craftable item, (I.e. Don't simply use an iron ingot/wood block/diamond/etc. in the arrow recipe). Perhaps one of each base item (wood block, iron ingot, gold, diamond) placed in a crafting menu would create 8 or 16 arrowheads of the respective type.
-As for the "multiple-arrow-in-inventory" issue, I'd suggest a new item: the arrow bag (or just add the long-ago rejected quiver). This would have it's own gui menu where one would place inside it, arrows of whatever type, and they'd be able to choose which stack to draw from first, then which stack'll be used once the first has run out.
THANKS!
If you had multiple arrow types in your inventory, which type would be fired out of the bow? How would the bow distinguish which type of arrow to use.
I don't see a way around it, but that does not mean there isn't one.
