This isn't the usual "It should hatch a dragon" thread. I think that we should be able to use it as a device to farm Enderman.
How this works is that you place an Egg on a small patch of endstone. When night comes, lots of Enderman start spawning. Add a pumpkin, and you're good to go farm.
You may say, "Oh that's cheap, you can get tons of Ender Pearls!" Think about it: if you already have beaten the Dragon, getting that stuff will not break the game. This is just a better reward for killing the Enderdragon. I myself think an egg that is hard to pick up should be elaborated a bit more, but not by spawning a dragon.
If you have any suggestions, please let me know.

Pointing out fallacies to undermine an argument is also a fallacy...
I like your opinion on not needing to make this into another (lets spawn a dragon suggestion) But i always thought we might get into another dimension with the egg in my opinion I have always wanted it to open a rift.
Hmm. Interesting. I like it, but there a lot of flaws. As Deonyi stated, in SMP, only one player gets the egg and no one else gets it. But when does anyone else ever get the egg in SMP? It's usually the host of the server or who ever got rid of the dragon in the first place. That part is fine. But the endermen spawning a lot may be over doing it. That may cause some serious block losage.
Otherwise I like that it's not a "oh hai let hath teh dragon egg fur a pet" suggestion.
I do admit this may be a little bit of a problem for SMP and that's a problem I'd rather not adress right now because I have no idea how I would fix that but this egg desperately needs a use. I mean you kill a massive boss and all you have to show for it is an egg that can teleport around when you right click it and 70 levels which can easily be used up in an hour or two. Beating a boss should have long term affect and I feel this is the perfect way to do it. This is a nice helpful use for the egg without having it hatch an Ender Dragon and result in you being totally OP for the rest of the game. I mean look at the Wither boss He drops the Nether Star which can then be in turn crafted into a beacon. Now it takes a ton of minerals to actually get this thing working which I don't necessarily agree with but it's something that will stay with you the entire game. Support.
Uh, no. The Enderdragon Egg is a trophy, nothing more. It doesn't really need a use, especially since it's only obtainable once on unmodified servers. Hell, even as far as a trophy goes, killing the dragon isn't much of an achievement.

The idea of giving the egg an actual purpose does appeal to me, and it is nice to see an original (as far as I know) take on the subject.
So on SMP, one player kills the dragon and gets the egg, noone else can get it.
No support.
Good point, this could be considered a problem. That said, it could give people more of an incentive to do the enderdragon fight, rather than let others do it (as there is currently no real worthwhile reward (the egg itself isn't that amazing)).

I'd be open to this being implemented as well, rifts are pretty awesome. The only issue is where it takes you, I wouldn't want a new dimension like those in Divine RPG, for example, they seem a little bit tacky to me.

I agree in some ways, but also strongly disagree in others.
-Yes, it may not need a use, but I think that a use for it would benefit the game.
-As you said, even as a trophy, it's not that impressive (another reason to give it a purpose).
-While I believe it should have at least some use, I don't think that I necessarily needs to be a huge addition to the game. The ideas quoted above do indeed appeal to myself, but I'd settle for anything that makes the ending to the game not so anti-climactic. I mean, currently; you generate a world, make a nice comfy base, spend all this time preparing (probably the least fun part of the game), and then you go and fight the dragon (a difficult (ish) fight, but not exactly the epic finale seen in many other games). Finally, after winning the anti-climactic fight, you get a useless trophy to take home to your base, where you can live out your days in perfect safety, with no real goals. What fun...
Its not bad I like the gist its just It needs some sort of cool originality.Oh and llama have you seen all Dem dimensions yet,how about the egg going into the next dimension? http://www.minecraft...er-anouncement/

This is so you don't have to go back everytime you want to farm Enderman, plus the bonus of not falling off an edge.
