- The Blacksmith chest should be tyical 1 wide, not a double chest.
- Many of your room examples are needlessly huge. Rooms should not be bigger than a library or portal room.
- While I love the idea of a semi-randomness algorithm to remove stupid instances, I don't like how to as presented algorithm seems to remove way too much randomness.
Rooms should be able to have a random number of exists, not al be of the same size, and not always being "layed out" the same. The entire thing feeling more like a true maze instead of a neat floorplan. The use of the semi-random is to remove weird stuff, not to sanitize everything in sight. Also, the need to limit to 1 armory and stuff like that, is not as important as it might seem. Just have odds of occurence adjudted so "important" rooms are rarer. It could actualy be quite fun to try to ratinalize why a stronghold has 20 armories... or 2 throne rooms...
Also, while I overall like the idea, I think it should apply more to a new *castle* structure, while strongholds should remain more like the mysterious prisons they are, at least to me, and as such, strongholds shouldn't have all of those rooms, but concentrate more on a "prison" theme. Maybe a torture room lol?
Something i would really love to see is Strongholds are one giant Maze like the twilight forest mod mazes.

You are both rational and emotional. You value creation and discovery, and feel strongly about what I create. At best, you're innovative and intuitive. At worst, you're scattered and unpredictable.
I do agree my idea for rooms are somewhat needlessly large, but I'm no architect, I was just trying to build something to get the point across. As for the rooms having multiple exits, there could even be multiple variations on rooms, ones that have slightly different layouts, different configurations and ect.
Perhaps there could be different "flavors" of stronghold generating on different conditions, similar to how there are both desert and jungle temples, if you get what I'm saying. One being prisons (though they could still use housing for the prison guards... or not) others being large areas designed like a keep for a civilization preparing for or at wars, lots of barracks, higher chance of armories, larger amount of dining halls to feed the residing troops. Others could be more designed as a kind of bunker for the citizens, or a secluded section for a Wizard to take residence. Perhaps the reasons the strongholds all have end portals is not just for access for access to the dimension but the stronghold builders once possessed the power to travel between portals, using them as a network to keep their strongholds connected.
I'm kinda just... rambling now, but it's something to think about.
I also like the idea of castles. I don't know why but I feel like they should be only found in forest biomes... maybe because they just need something there or people really just need something motivating them to explore the forests more intently. I feel like castles would be be better in a thread of their own. Perhaps you could make it, Ouatcheur.

I'd love to see that, mazes are my favorite.
Of course if Strongholds were generated well enough, with multiple variations of rooms, extra exits and stuff, a large enough stronghold could be kinda like a labyrinth to find the End Portal, especially if Ender Eyes lead you to the enternece to the stronghold instead of straight to the portal.
Great idea! I would really want to see a room called Mineshaft Entrance, it's just a room with two Doors (Iron or Wood, i prefer Wood though) that lead to a Mineshaft, the ones we usually see, that would be good for two reasons:
1: It makes sense, i mean, the civilization needs ores don't they?
2: The possibility of the inverse happening, you're exploring a Mineshaft and then you find that Stronghold Room, since both are connected! Oh the glory, that's a cool way to find a Stronghold!
I fail to see why something like this wasn't implemented by Mojang themselves. I wonder about them sometimes. Anyway I support this, I'd also like to see something like this for Nether Fortresses. Maybe new rooms, maybe not, but they like their overworld counterparts, they need more organized generation. Seriously...
I hope something like what you've proposed here is added to the vanilla game.

And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee.
Oh, I like this, earlier I was talking about flavors of strongholds, prison strongholds, residential strongholds, military strongholds.
Each one would have a reason to have mineshafts too, prisons could be using prisoner labor in the mines, residential could house miners which have their place of work right next to them, military ones would use the mines to gather resources for making military products.
I really agree Nether Forts could use some work too, maybe we can come up for some stuff about it sometime. But in my opinion, Nether forts still are better than Strongholds. I'd really like to see strongholds receive an update as I feel they should be more important and significant to the game than they currently are.

This is an awesome idea! I support. Also, maybe there could be a little kennel located somewhere in the Stronghold with Skeleton Heads to signify that there were pets there, but have long since gone to the the land of Higher Resolution & Better Gameplay (Minecraft Heaven). Maybe even a chest with various pet food items (Raw meats, Fish, Bones, etc). The reason behind this room is: It must get lonely down in a Stronghold, so having a place for some furry friends to stay would be nice.
SUPPORT!!! Also there should be a small chance of the enchanting table having bookshelves around it, not necessarily completely surrounded to get level 30 enchantments but just a random amount in random places

I do not care about your dragon, I will not click it, it is not real, and I hope it dies in a fire.

Not bad, Not bad. I don't really know how the bookshelves would look with it though.
Like the idea a lot.
My room I'd add? A deathtrap room! Muahahaha!

Anywho, the entire concept is very very nice.
I would love this to be a part of strongholds.

I love this so much! Would love to see it added.
I made a banner, what do you guys think?
Not bad, Not bad. I don't really know how the bookshelves would look with it though.
I think that if the Stronghold has an above-ground entrance, it should be concealed, like so:
The entrance should be of different styles, here's my take on the few possible entrances
I also did my take on the armory:
as you can see the armory has spawners, it has a 75% chance to be a zombie and 25% chance to be a skeleton spawner.
and it's possible loot:
(The enchanting book is of any kind)
I really like this one.
I really like these two, I'm not so sure about the concealed one, I like them being out in the open, inviting the players in to explore.
