Ok, there are many ideas of 'Diamond bows', 'Blaze Bows', but I really thought, "How does that really make sense? The arrow does the damage.
So I thought of some new ideas, until I hit this one. "Optimize and change arrows!"
===========================================================
First of all, now arrows, when it comes to shooting them, cannot be just be anywhere on the inventory. I decided to use 'the ol' quiver' that never really happened to be implemented. You equip the quiver on a seperate slot, crafted with 7 leather pieces like this pattern.
L - L
L - L
L L L
That's the crafting recipe. Kinda like cauldrons, eh?
You equip this quiver on the quiver slot. It could hold up to 2 stacks of arrows. The very top stack will be used first. Then once the top stack's gone, the bottom stack will be used. You can also stack up other arrows in the inventory, but if it's not in the quiver, it cannot be shot.
Ok. I think I rattled enough about the GUI and usage, now it's time to introduce the ingredients.
==================================
New Ingredients:
1. Cut stone tip
Craft the tip like so:
- S -
S - S => 8 Stone tips
- - -
We're going to need 3 stone(not cobblestone; you'll need to smelt them), which
could be obtained by mining, then smelting the cobblestone. It's the easiest
ingredient to craft, since all of the items are in abundance(I daresay it's even easier
than flint). It's used forthe tip of Mini Arrows.
2. Fire Charge tip
This one's quite hard. You'll need to first craft Fire Charge, which means you
need to visit the nether. Still, its use is limited to Blazing Arrows, which also
means the collection of Blaze Rods, also in the Nether.
Crafting the tip is easy. Just place a Fire Charge anywhere in the crafting slot,
and it will yield 4 Fire Charge tips. This means the crafting could be done in
the inventory slot.
Fire Charge tips are used for Blazing Arrows, as mentioned above.
3. Obsidian tip
This one's just tedious if you have a Diamond pick, but not as hard as the Fire
Charge tip. Just find some natural Obsidian, or 'mold' them with a water
bucket onto a lava pool. Then mine it with the diamond pick, and
craft it like this:
- O - O - O => 3 Obsidian tips - - -
This brought in real life. Obsidian was used, in ancient times, to craft the tip of arrows,
since it was quite sharp. It is used to craft Obsidian Arrows.
4. Diamond Crystal tip
This requires Diamond, the rarest ore in Minecraft(second to Emerald).
This isn't exactly a piece of cake either. It is crafted in a less-than-one ratio, which
means you're going to get less tips with the diamonds.
Craft the tip like this:
- D - D D D => 3 Diamond Crystal tips - - -
It is used to make Diamond-tip Arrows, which could be VERY powerful. However,
if you already have a nether base and found a fortress, it will be harder to craft
than Fire Charge tips. Still, this does not require the presence of the Nether.
Arrows:
1. Normal Arrows
Well, duh. They're the arrows we use now. They have no special property, no strength
or weakness, and no particular stuff.
It is crafted, as you know, with flint, stick, and feather.
- Fl -
- S - => 4 Normal Arrows
- Fe -
They will do 4.5 hearts of damage with a fully charged unenchanted bow.
Flying distance: Max 120 blocks.(Shot from surface, optimal angle(around 40 degrees))
2. Mini Arrows
Ok, I admit I named them since I really had no idea what to name them. They're
weaker and have less knockback and less flying distance.
It is crafted with 1 stone tip, and two sticks.
- ST -
- S - => 2 mini arrows
- S -
They will do maximum of 2~2.5 hearts' damage at full charge unenchanted bow.
Flying Distance: Max 70 blocks.
3. Blazing Arrows
Blazing arrows' ingredients require killing blazes, and lots of them. They have
slightly weaker power but with a powerful advantage; Fire. This is the only way
of shooting fiery arrows without a Flame Enchantment, or passing through lava.
These flames work on Endermen, but like normal, the arrow itself will not damage it.
These arrows have the same aspect as the normal arrows other from the slightly
weaker hit power and the flame. It will ignite entities on fire for 7.5 seconds. If combined
with Flame enchantments, it will do faster damage for 7.5 seconds, since both the arrow
and the bow it was shot from had fiery aspects.(the time isn't simply lengthened, since
getting into water will cancel any extra time.)
Since fire normally does 1 HP damage per second, if combined, it will do double damage
in a second, highly enhancing the chance of further damage.
- FC -
- B - => 8 Blazing Arrows
- B -
or
- FC -
- B - => 5 Blazing Arrows
- F -
(FC: Fire Charge tips, B: Blaze Rods)
They will do 3.5 hearts of damage, fully charged, unenchanted bow and any fire damage
combined(if unextiguished and the target unhealed, it will do an extra 3.5 heart damage
from the fire.)
Flying Distance: Max 120 blocks
4. Obsidian Arrows
Obsidian Arrows are beneficial over normal arrows, since they do more damage.
Moreover, they fly in a near-straight line in a high speed, it is easier to
target mobs. But shooting it will bring burden to the bow, and it will cost
2 durability to shoot an Obsidian Arrow.
However, their crafting recipe yields less arrows than others.
- OT -
- S - => 2 Obsidian Arrows
- F -
It almost defies gravity, so once shot, it will fly past the render distance if it doesn't
hit anything. It will drop as an item there.
It will do maximum 5.5 hearts of damage, full-charged unenchanted bow.
Flying distance: up to 1500 blocks if chunks render; up to 250 blocks
under normal circumstances in Far render distance.
5. Diamond Tip Arrows
Diamond Tip Arrows are the strongest and the most damaging. It could
even hit and directly damage Endermen(the only arrow able to do so)
However, they have one downside. Bow enchantments, apart
from Power, will not work. Infinity enchantments will only work partly.
If you have 16 of these arrows, then you can set the mode to 'extra-shoot'
(enabled via quiver interface). It will then use up 16 Diamond Tip arrows
and you can shoot 32 shots with them(the extra box will show this in
faded color.)
Also, since it is very forceful, it takes lots of damage on the bow, costing
the bow 3 durability.
- DT -
- S - => 2 Diamond Tip Arrows
- F -
Don't worry, it's actually worth its cost, for its high damage and large hitbox
will hit and kill mobs easier.
It will do a formidable 8.5 hearts of damage when fully charged with an
unenchanted bow. (This means spiders will be a one-hit kill.)
Flying Distance: Max 90 blocks; slightly heavier and slightly slower.
There is a possibility this thread could be locked, due to how many times people made "more arrows" suggestions. I'm a little impressed though, because you didn't suggest "poison arrows" like the previous 3,000 new users who make threads here.
I don't support, and that's for one main reason. With normal arrows, we can already spam mobs to death without them noticing, and adding all these new arrows is a little too much. Imagine how powerful these arrows would be if your bow was enchanted. It's still good you organized it all, and didn't give us a boring wall of text with no punctuation.
So I thought of some new ideas, until I hit this one. "Optimize and change arrows!"
