In minecraft i want to be able to build a ladder to the sun and mine superheated plasma. And i want to be able to mine space. And visit other planets and mine them. I want to mine space with a special pickaxe and bust a hole in space-time that goes to another dimension. And i want to be able to mine down into the center of the earth, and i want to dig too greedily and too deep and find a balrog. I want every layer of the under dark to be worse than the layer above it. I want cthulhu to fear his downstairs neighbors.
I don't expect ANYONE to listen to me, and i don't plan to develop these ideas at all. If any of them sound cool to you maybe you'll talk about them enough so that they break through to the awareness of the minecraft developers.
Yeah, we all want things, but I don't think there'll be the tiniest chance in hell that we'll ever "build a ladder to the sun mine it". Don't worry about the Minecraft devs seeing your idea, because it's galaxies away from being worthy of vanilla Minecraft. Make a suggestion from a neutral standpoint instead of "I want this and this and this so please put it in the game."
What? Like actually required or just highly suggested? Because there are a lot of ways you could accomplish these ideas, and i do not personally know the practicality of each idea. But at least some of them require big fundamental changes to concepts notch seems to have about the game. So i really expect this to be like screaming wishes into the dark. But it seems that all of these things are natural extensions to minecraft that will basically be totally doable as computer power advances. Because even if, for instance, memory is the sticking point, we'll be able to afford 16 and 32 gigabyte memory capacities in the next couple of years. On the other hand, i could see ways that you could facilitate expanding the limits of the game world without having to expand the actual working memory foot print - but i don't java development well enough.
If you mean the specific ideas, when i knew a lot less about minecraft, i really feared digging deeper into the world, because i actually did wonder if it was gonna be like the underdark where every few hundred feed down was another nightmare worse than the one above it. I didn't know at the time that there was this arbitrary limit on the height of the world. And i was always hoping that notch would figure out a way around that. And i was so tickled by all the types of blocks you could mine - like water or fire. And i always hoped one day i could mine sky, or mine the sun - like literally the sun is just hanging there in the sky really high up and i could go up there and mine it.
Honestly, i've never suggested this before because i thought it was such a natural extension of the game that if notch didn't already want to do it, he was never gonna. But on the off chance i was a complete idiot, there's them ideas.
Underdark as in the Underdark from Dungeons and Dragons? It might not actually do too bad in MC, with the mushrooms and all. It might make a pretty OK sub-biome in the Nether or something.
As for the others, they sound a bit too science-fictiony for Minecraft. They might work out OK in a mod though.

I'm not posting these ideas because i'm being whiny or entitled. I am not complaining they aren't in the game. I am not saying "If you don't give me what i want notch i won't like your game." I am saying, "Hey, have you guys ever thought of this? Doesn't this sound awesome?". Notch and his developers can figure out how to implement these ideas if they sound really cool to him. And if they don't sound really cool to him, he aint gonna do it, and i'm okay with that. And really i expected him to have already thought of all of this and rejected it for various reason, but on the offff-chance they haven't...
First. This is a wish list and has been reported as such.
Second. Cthulhu I believe falls under copyrighten material and thus could never be added to the vanilla game.
Same with the Underdark. It falls under copyright and would never get added by Mojang.
Space has been suggested almost as much as "He whose name must not be uttered." And it's still a bad idea.

Humanity is the creation of Logic and Emotion, Calculation and Imagination, Cold Analysis and Blind Faith. This is why I believe it is a strange Human that would prize one while shunning the other. For a calculator can do math just as well as you, but a calculator can not use math to make the world a better place.
Its nice to see people on the forums familiar with D&D. Where I am from, you get almost none of those people.
But yes, there are probably copyright infringements with the name. No worries though, it could be used as an inspirational source, and the name could just be changed.
The ideas are vague and require more detail as to how they could be added to vanilla version of minecraft. For proper discussion to happen suggestions must be well explained and if necessary, well demonstrated.

Come back with a suggestion, if you feel like no longer wasting everyone's time.
