Stop judging a book by its cover.
It should run on old computers with decent fps... Do you realize all the chunk updating and spawning happening in-game cause fps to drop? Entity spawning is not a problem to most games since most of them are just single loaded areas which are the same and loading and unloading isnt much of a problem (but takes a while to do) like in the ps3 games I played such as Assissin's Creed where the game is usually smooth (but with random lag spikes occasionally) even with the enemy respawning going on since all parts of an area is already loaded. But note it takes time to load other sectors of the world since they are large.
But for a game like Minecraft... Both spawning and chunk updating happens at the same time. (And those are just two things that cause fps to drop) Minecraft can cause even the best computers to easily get overworked.

And remember redstone, it is quite laggy with some large machines.
Why do people think Notch still is the lead developer of Minecraft???? Anyway, I know I probably shouldn't answer with this but it truly does help in most cases...get a mod called optifine. You can customize a lot more settings so that your FPS may be faster. Also, there is a program called game booster which does some stuff to make your game run faster and if you're using a texture pack, try to just stick with the default or a 16x16 version of something, maybe a 32x32.
If you are going to complain about something stupid, then at least get the owner right.
There is many flaws with your topic.
1. Forge probably won't re-code Minecraft because it would waste their time.
2. A petition is unnecessary.
3. There is many ways to get rid of lag.
i know how the game works but if it was re-desined it could run better.....
say like cubic clunks for example so you wouldn't have to load as much data (and as a bonus removing the height/depth limit even)

Removing the limit..,
ARE YOU INSANE? That would cause even a god computer to get on its knees.
cubic chunks wouldn't have to load all the blocks bellow or above them, the chunks would just have to have the data from the chunk bellow for the top/bottom layer and only have to load bellow some times when stuff falls a long long wayotherwise your loading less chunks while being able to see moreI would show you all sorts of stuff on it but this was stuff i preached about in beta and the old forms so it's all gone, i'm sure the people who made the cubic chunks mod though have the same kinda stuff in it

Just because it has simple graphics, doesn't mean it's a simple game. Of course old computers are going to lag.
