Allow dispensers/hoppers with water buckets to fill cauldrons. Empty Bukets fall directly under caudron so that they can be collected via hopper. The cauldron could out put redstone signal whose power is determind by how full the caudron is. This would allow for auto refilling cauldrons making them much more useful than just a decoration.
Well you say that auto-refilling cauldrons with water will make them more useful, but I there isn't really any use for water in cauldrons is there? I mean sure you can wash your leather armor off, but who really does that anyways? And an infinite water source is much better for filling up water bottles. What the cauldron needs in addition to this is a use. As BagelsforDinner said above, combining potions would be a good idea.

They can be used to fill glass jars. I understand that a water source block can do the same(you don't even need an infinite source) but some people like the athstetics of the cauldron better it can also be used to have access to water in the nether (if only for brewing). What my suggestion would do is allow for cauldron use to be slightly less of a hassle therefore making it more likly to happen. As for using it to combine potions I am not against that idea per say but it is outside of the context of my idea. The ability to combine potions would drastically change the mechanics of potion making and would need much more thought than "Oh yeah lets use cauldrons to do this!" As such it should be its own topic with thoughts on cost, timing, limitations, etc.. If he or you make such a topic I will be happy to read and chime in but it has nothing to do with what I suggested.

Alright, I get your point, and I guess that would be a pretty good feature albeit one I wouldn't really use. Also, if there's a hopper above your cauldron, would you be able to access it?

I would assume so. But if not you can attach hoppers to input from the side.

That really goes beyond the scope of my idea but it may be able to work. And thanks for the support.

You can WASH leather armor?

To get the dye off of it, yes.
