This is an idea i came up with: The GPS
This would work almost like Ray's Mini-map mod.
(Correct me if I'm wrong with the name)
It would scroll around, and you would be able to zoom it in or out by right-clicking with it in your hand.
You would be able to make one way-point and do so by holding the right-click. You wouldn't see the way-point on your screen, but on the GPS. It could be a little red dot, and when you move away from it, it will become an arrow pointing in its direction, like how when you move off a map the white dot goes there, except it will tell you which direction it is in. The GPS would look pretty much like a map, but circular in shape, and only shows where you are when you hold it in your hand.
This is what the crating recipe could look like:
If i missed anything, or did anything wrong please tell me, as this is my first suggestion on the forums. I have skimmed over the rules though.
Why? Maps when fully expanded cover an insane amount of ground. and you could just carry a few of those around. A better way to do this would be an atlas type book out of all the maps you make. (I think that's actually a suggestion around here some where.)

Humanity is the creation of Logic and Emotion, Calculation and Imagination, Cold Analysis and Blind Faith. This is why I believe it is a strange Human that would prize one while shunning the other. For a calculator can do math just as well as you, but a calculator can not use math to make the world a better place.
I dont see how this would be that overpowered. After you go past a place on the GPS you wouldn't know whats there anymore like you do a map. The map lets you see everything at once, the GPS just lets you see things in a certain radius around you. And the crafting recipe could always be changed to rarer materials to make it harder to craft anyway.
G.P.S. stands for global positioning satellite. How are we going to get the satellite that makes it work?
I see what you mean, but there really isn't a better name to give it. And besides, Minecraft isn't that realistic. Dirt can float in mid-air, and boats can break when they hit a lily pad.

Yes, but ancronym's are there for a reason. There are better names to use.
Off topic: Boats no longer break when they hit a lily pad.
I thing that a GPS map is a great idea, but what would make it even better is if it could see inside caves and work in the nether. It could even have way points like in tekkit.
i was thinking about it being able to see underground tunnels and work in the nether but that would just make it too powerful. Same with more than 1 way-point.
Please...no acronyms. I never saw anything in vanilla Minecraft with an acronym.

No support. Maps already do the same thing.
Maps most certainly don't do the same thing. With a map, if you go off the edge you have to make a whole other map, and keep doing that the more you explore. The GPS (I actually think i'll still call it the GPS for now, since it does work exactly like one, except for the satellite issue, but who really cares if there's a satellite or not?) will show you the terrain around you, no matter where you are, plus you get a way-point.

So then what do you think I should call it, instead of just telling me not to call it a GPS?
Maybe M.LS. for Magical Location System or something Maybe RLS for Redstone Location System?
I think he means Kill SATELLITES

Edit: Never mind. TNT is an acronym :3
