A friend and I had an idea for Minecraft elevators.
It would involve a rail (much like the powered mine cart rail) that can only be placed vertically. you would have a lever at top and bottom and a slab would be the mover.
Otherwise you could remove the levers and use a pressure plate. get on, and it goes one way, jump and it goes the other, maybe even if you place a pressure rail you could ride a mine cart onto the rail, it would go up or down and then move on.
I also think that the elevator rail should be made much the same as powered rail (with gold and whatnot)
This could also be applied to moving platforms. Like fences the rail could be connected without a block underneath. Otherwise it would act much the same as the elevator
I didn't understand what you meant at first so I looked up and built a redstone elevator. Don't get me wrong the idea is ingenious, but it uses a loot of space and resources. My idea would be thinner and use less materials, well I guess you would need a lot of gold, but you would need the same for powered rail. Though maybe I could see a problem with speed. Maybe the speed could be proportionate to the amount of rails( the more rails the faster). i will think more on it and adds if I think of anything. thank you for your advice
Why not give more details?Almost every item in the game has Pros and Cons. Also the crafting for this?Powered railings makes you go faster ,but can't turn to the left or right this can be avoided tho using a lever.Golden tools can mine get rid of basic blocks ,but very low durability.
