I think it would be a very good idea to add moss into the game as an object so one can create there own mossy bricks without the need of finding a dungeon. Moss would be collected with sheers and it would not be climbable. It would grow in winter biomes on the north side of tree trunks. It should also grow on the ground in swamps. It would not be collected if the block is broken and picked up separately. It should also regrow in swamp biomes if it rains in small patches on the ground.
I also had this idea, but slightly different. Moss would spawn in swamps, with the same shape and size as Snow, in small patches. When you mine it with a shovel, you get a Moss item. This can be used to craft Mossy Cobblestone and Stone Brick, as well as 4 of them crafting a solid Moss block. Then, it can be used to craft Moss layers, like snow. Either your way or my way, support.
I'm not entirely sure (don't quote me on this) but doesn't moss typically favor moist, somewhat warm environments? I think you may have moss confused with lichen.

Your half right. Mosses (Phylum Bryophyta) do like wet environments, but they dont really care about the warmth. We have it everywhere here. Lichens (a symbiosis between an algae and a fungus) also like moist environments.
Also, the idea of growing exclusively on the north side of a tree may apply to some species, but not to most of them.

Your brain is so powerful, it would take a state of the art computer the size of a factory to come even close to matching the processing power.
