I was playing Minecraft and I thought about all the various ways to get experience orbs - mining, smelting, trading, and slaying mobs. It is very good for the Miners, Traders and Fighters, but I think we need to reward our other minecraft 'professions' - Fishermen, Lumberjacks, Farmers, Explorers, etc.
Here is how I propose we do that:
-Despawning leaves should have a 10% chance to drop 1-2 Experience Orbs.
-Harvesting Wheat, Carrots, Potatoes, and breaking a naturally grown Melon, Pumpkin or Cocoa Pod should have a 40% chance to drop 1-3 Experience Orbs.
-When you catch a fish, 2-4 Experience Orbs should be pulled out of the water too.
-Dungeon, Pyramid, Abandoned Mineshaft, Jungle Temple, and Stronghold chests should very rarely contain a Bottle o' Enchanting.
A simple suggestion, I know, but I think it would even out which types of players get experience - we don't want certain people to be rewarded more.
I will tweak this suggestion if you guys provide better ideas! Post your compliments/critiques in the comments.
Despawning leaves should have a 5% chance, as large jungle trees could give huge amounts of XP. Wheat and carrots/potatoes should be 30% instead of 60%. Fish one is good. Chest ones are good. Support for my way, but not really for yours.

You're right about the Jungle Trees. I'm changing it to 10% chance - because I still want it to be a fair amount of Experience.
I'm all for other was to gain XP. In my opinion anything that de-values XP grinders and raises the value of playing the game normally is great. SO full support.
Now if we could only craft bottles o' enchanting using the levels we have gained to store the XP. But thats a different suggestion.

Humanity is the creation of Logic and Emotion, Calculation and Imagination, Cold Analysis and Blind Faith. This is why I believe it is a strange Human that would prize one while shunning the other. For a calculator can do math just as well as you, but a calculator can not use math to make the world a better place.

And I totally agree about the Bottles o' Enchanting.
