Will skeletons be deadly machines on harder difficulties, like in 1.7.3?
I'm planning on something like what Dinnerbone is doing for them. They can shoot from further away on every difficulty, but the closer you get to them, the faster they fire. The radius in which they start shooting faster also increases depending on difficulty.
So, it depends on difficulty. If you run at a skeleton on Easy or Wuss, you won't get shot a lot (though you may get hit once). If you approach a skeleton on Impossible, you will resemble a pincushion before you can get close.

Support, but I hate how you insult anyone who plays on peaceful. I ALWAYS play on peaceful because I play minecraft to build, not to fight mobs. I would suggest changing Wuss mode to Easy mode. I assume you WANT players to stop playing because of a game that insults them?

The Wither Skeleton, however, will get an overhaul so that he is much more dangerous than he is now, even on Easy. As he is, though, he's slower than the Wither Spirits but more powerful.

It's a form of easy mode mockery (beware, TVtropes link, side effects may include addiction). Some games do it. Since peaceful is pretty much unaffected anyway so if you don't like being called a wuss just play on Easy or Peaceful.

No, they're two completely different mobs. You're trying to compare a finished mob to an unfinished mob.

It's actually the Wither Skeleton that is getting the overhaul (seriously, it's just a retextured skeleton with a sword that inflicts Wither). Also, the Wither as well, since he kinda sucks.

A complete overhaul. I'm considering removing (or at least reducing the amount of, or changing) endercrystals because they only make the fight drag on.
...Wait a minute. Drag on? Dragon. Notch has a sick sense of humor.
Anyway, either i'll reduce their number so that you can't just start slaughtering him (but preventing the fight from dragging on), or i'll reduce the crystal's number but make it harder to take them out (e.g. put a miniboss in each tower that drops an item that can destroy the crystal).

Maybe change their name and their texture/model with something more Minecrafty (with Minecrafty I mean not human. I mean you wake up who knows where, with no other humans. Same with villagers although I have grown used to them)
Replace the Knight with : Zombie Pigpaladin.

Why bother revamping difficulty if you aren't going to separate hunger from damage? Some people like to play on hard, but not deal with hunger as much. Some people like to play on easy but enjoy the hunger aspect. Some people play on peaceful, but wish they had hunger. Why not make everyone happy by having two sliders/ selectors?

I don't see why not, but it'll be locked to a certain hunger level on higher difficulties. 'Cause, you know, it's supposed to be more difficult.
Added backpacks and the frog (the item, not the creature) as well as making a slight change to combat: attacks that deal no damage (due to incorrect time frames) still knock the enemy back.
