I've played since Alpha it has bothered me since the addition of Cake that we have to sacrafice cooking for crafting or vice versa. Cake has multiple ingredients, But one is heat, same for cookies the only othe examples I can think of are from mods but To fry an egg you need a pan Do I Use the Crafting bench?
Non-food recipes have this to but I cant think of any.
I think this is a case of simplicity vs. realism. It's easier to have those items be crafted without heat than it is to create a new appliance or change the way that furnaces work to accommodate 3x3 heat crafting.
So... Due to two foods... We need... a whole new block... for realism... in Minecraft? Why? I like being able to make awesome foods while the making of them is simple. Cake already is a complex process of itself, we dont need to have the oven preheated at 350F for six hours to regen 10 wads of hunger. No support.
No There is more than two, hell if i can rememer though. It's mostly stuff that gets smelted but would normally be compsed of multiple items. But even so why not? It would add room for wide range of multi-stage recipies, without the extra items multstaging would cause.
Or what if we could make "un-baked cake" on the table, then just jam it in the furnace... We don't even need to ask Jeb at Mojang HQ to do that, someone has probably already done a mod for it.

thats my point imagine having to do that for everything that needs to crafted and cooked.
Especially Cookies that work be grueling. Multi-staging sucks and so do extra Item / Block IDs
