Hey miners! Do you ever find that clay is useless? I mean, if my idea for waterproof redstone could be implemented(http://www.minecraft...-and-glowstone/), then it could be useful for something. Bricks can be cool, but are the red, harder to get cobblestone!
I belive that pottery could improve clay. You could make Vases, Pots, and Jugs.

All clay items could be cooked, and then placed. The jug could hold water, like a clay cauldron, the pot is for decorations, and vases would be a clay flower pot but taller. Please support!

I'm in favor of doing something with clay. It's one of the most basic building blocks in the world and has been used to make necessities since before the world invented writing. I'm okay with decorative blocks, such as vases, but would also like more specifically useful items.
On decorative items, perhaps there could be something like a Sculpture, and it comes out randomly (like paintings) every time you put it down (or, say, if you right-click it), so there are (say) 16 sculptures for decoration but they add up to only one type of item?

My nephews and I have started posting Minecraft videos on my YouTube channel! Fairly random, but enjoyable.
General schedule is 4 PM Mon-Fri and 10 AM Saturdays. Most popular MC vid so far is the one Vechs laughed at on Twitter!
I have to disagree with your statement that bricks are the "red hard to get cobblestone" seeing as cobblestone is a low tier building material and bricks are higher tier building materials. I got to this by simply looking at the way you make them useable as as a building material. I shouldn't have to go through those steps. But overall I do think that clay could use more uses. I feel they should have some kind of significance other than simply being for decorative purposes, though I do like the ideas you put forward as a starting place.
Though I don't see how your other thread has anything to do with this suggestion.

Humanity is the creation of Logic and Emotion, Calculation and Imagination, Cold Analysis and Blind Faith. This is why I believe it is a strange Human that would prize one while shunning the other. For a calculator can do math just as well as you, but a calculator can not use math to make the world a better place.
Ok, so on the Minercat wiki, it states that cobblestone has the same blast resistance, stackability, and hardness. Bricks are exactly the same, but not renewable. It really is sort of just made for cool houses.
I guess there could be sculptures, and there could be 16 types. The crafting could be as follows:
ECE
CCC
CEC
C=clay ball
E=empty
The top row would represent the head, the middle row the torso and limbs, and the bottom represents the legs.
Thank you Kilyle!
There could be a sculpture for all peaceful mobs, and maybe some other mobs, like creepers.

Nice ideas with the vases and other types of pottery. Don't forget to mention that you then smelt the clay things into the brick version.
