Did you ever wanted to migrate from a house to another, but couldn't due to not enough backpack spaces? The same happened to me. Since not everyone can estabilish a working Minecart train, I present you: The OFFICIAL Minecart Train!
But how do I craft it, you ask? Easy! Just pick your Workbench, and place the following:
A Minecart with Furnace in the left, a Standard Minecart to the right of the Minecart with Furnace, and either a Minecart with Chest, a Minecart with Hopper, another Standard Minecart or simply nothing to the right of the Standard Minecraft. And ta-da, you have a working Minecart Train.
But, how does it works, you ask? It's simple! Place ANY item that can be used to smelt(NOT an item that can be smelted!) in the lower slot of the furnace, and the cart will instantly begin moving! No Powered Rails required! Absolutely Redstone-free!
But it wouldn't it be overpowered, you ask? Of course not! Since it requires not only coal/wood, but THREE minecarts(plus rails) and a Workbench to make the Minecart Train, it won't be overpowered in the slightest(Unless Redstone was made harder to get). Kiss Redstone bye-bye with the new Minecart Train!
But what about manually pushing the Chest Minecart, or putting the Minecart with Furnace BEHIND the other minecarts, you ask? As stated in the Minecart with Furnace article, Powered Minecarts cannot push occupied Minecarts up steep hills, neither can at 180-degree hairpin turns. But the Minecart Train can! Plus, there's the risk of the Minecarts glitching and getting seperated from each other. Minecart Trains have each Minecart glued to each other, so they won't seperate from each other.
Minecarts are cool and all, but I wish they’d implement full train /railroad capabilities and features. Various train engines, cars, rail switches, signals, and diagonal rails. Heck, everything to make cool train systems.
This kind of sandbox just begs for trains. and vehicles too actually (Especially heavy equipment Dumps, cranes, scoops, etc.) Just like when we all palying in the dirt. LOL
I have also heard that they are adding something like this in 1.5. I do hope that they make the powred minecarts stronger but no faster, and that they let you put stacks of fuel in insteda of one at a time. (BTW Opel the setup in your avatar would make me go spy just to destroy it. )

We can already pretty much do this, I see no need for an ever so slightly more powerful crafted version of 3 minecarts. The main problem you mentioned could easily just be solved by making the furnace minecart better, this is pretty much what the use it was intended for, no need for players to have to craft it.
I didn't knew you could do manual minetrains by the time I made this thread, just so you know.

What do you think?
I hope they do. Minetrains will be made possible!

Yeah, someone mentioned it.
And Dispentryporters are unsappable!
