Currently the Weighted Pressure plates do not detect players, but only items. I would like to suggest that they CAN detect players, but based on how full their inventory is.
For example: A player with an empty inventory is able to walk over the pressure plate hooked up to an open door. However, if he has items in his inventory, it will trigger the pressure plate because he has items, and close the door preventing him from going through until he clears out his inventory.
This would be a great feature for puzzle and adventure map makers, as well as role playing servers where you want to have 'security checkpoints.'
I like it! There would have to be special extras to make sure it would actually work for its purpose. Otherwise you could just jump once and open the door. It should last a few seconds longer than normal pressure plates.

All you would need to do is hook it up to a Redstone timer. I think it should be kept with the normal delay so that you can control how short (or long using timers) it is. That way it's left up to the designer, not the pressure plate.
