Have you ever wanted to add a bit of flare to your cyborg power suit? Or maybe
give your bioluminescent alien skin spots that actually glow in the dark? Or perhaps
you're more of a nether denisen, with eyes aglow with flame. Well, with this idea, you
could do all those things and more!
What's a glowmap? An overlay of the skin texture which is always fully lit and
not effected by lgiht level. Spiders and endermen are 2 examples of this; they
each have a seperate "eyes" sheet which makes their eyes glow in the dark.
Basically, this would give player the ability to add the same things on themselves.
For example, let's say you made a herobrine skin with white eyes. You could
makes a seperate PNG which contains only the eyes. Under the option to
equip your skin on Minecraftt.net there would be another option; equip
your glowmap. You select it just like your regular skin. Say you copy your
herobrineskin.png and make a file called herbrineseyes.png. Open it up
and erase EVERYTHING except the eyes. Now uplaod herobrineskin.png
as your custom layer skin and herobrineseyes.png as your custom player
glowmap. Now when you're running around at night, your eyes will glow
blinding white no matter how dark it is. There are endless possibilities.
Power suits! Aliens! Elemental demigods! Ghosts and spirits! Robots!
Creepypasta pranks! You name it!
I would really like to have this added! Doesn't detract from gameplay, doesn't give you an advantage, If anything it makes it harder for you to hide. Easy to add and nice for player options.
However, this would be a lot better if they changed the player skin to be able to have asymmetry as well as the glowmap texture.
I SOOO want this option to be made possible in MC. I have wanted to be able to do this with my Skin since like day one and I saw my first Enderman. It would be totally epic, and Mod makers could then add an option where they would have like auras and other effects that would 'temporarily' overlay the player skin when the effect was in operation.. but yeah.
I support this alot, I'd like to see changes of minecraft skins. I'd also like if you could have transparent parts of your skin, like for nerdy glasses of a skins. It would be cool if I could have skins like the XBox minecraft ones. Such as the reinder antlers, little things like that.
