I'm all for more pets in Minecraft, so why not one that comes from the Nether? This is the Ember:
Appearance:
As you can see, it resembles a blaze's head. It would have the little flame particles come from it every 3-6 seconds, followed by a puff of smoke.
Where it spawns:
Embers can spawn in the Nether, in areas of light level 10 or higher. There is also a 5% chance that an Ember will spawn in a blaze's place when the blaze dies.
Taming:
In order to tame yourself an Ember, you have to follow these steps:
1. Find an Ember
2. Right click it with Nether Quartz (item) until hearts pop up from it
Once tamed, an Ember will follow you around, unless you tell it to stay (right clicking it.) Damaging a mob will cause your Ember to attack it. Embers attack by shooting a single fire charge at their target. They will continue to do this until the target is dead, or if they are ordered to stay.
Information:
Health: 16 (8 hearts)
Despawns: Yes, until tamed
Breedable: Yes, with Nether Quartz (item)
Drops: 0-1 Blaze Powder
As long as he'll automatically go through Nether portals when you do, I would like this. Very cute, very odd, and very Minecraft. However, the texture should change a little bit, in my opinion.
How does it move around? jumping like a slime?
Anyway I find it cute, but I am neutral about the thing of support (meh zone, but getting to yes)
P.D.:I think it would be useless to take this guy to nether fights (fire charges to the fireproof nether inhabitants? this guy will just decoy my house if he can get to overworld)
It would hover about 2/3 of a block off of the ground, but would be able to jump like a blaze can. I also forgot to mention that like a blaze, it would slowly float towards the ground instead of taking fall damage. Also, mobs can go through portals, so he would be useful in the Overworld.

Not automatically when you do, but you can push him into the portal.

Constructive criticism is welcome!
