I had a strange idea, what if there were gravestones, caskets, and cemetaries in Minecraft?
UPDATE: Ok, so I know what you're thinking: What the TESTIFACATE do these things do? Well, I'll tell you. Now first of all, the reason I was so vague is because, well, I didn't have enough time. So this is what these thing do. So I think Notch or Jeb should add gravestones, caskets, and cemetaries to Minecraft. What gravestones do is that they are placeable blocks, like signs, that can be written on, but though, they mark your death point once you die. There are 4 types of gravestones, and depending on which type and what they're made of, they can do and have different features. The tier 1 gravestone is made of wood, and it's just a cross on the crafting table. It marks your death point (DP) and lasts for 2 minutes before disentegrating. It can be burnt. The tier 2 gravestone is a stone gravestone, which is fireproof, lasts for 4 minutes, and marks your DP, but will be destoyed by explosions. The tier 3 gravestone is made of obsidian, and it will last for 10 minutes, and resist everything except for diamond picks. The final tier 4 gravestone is called an altar, and has two componenets, a statue of the dead player, and a small stand for it to stand on. This grave will withstand any attack, mark your DP, and will make you respawn at your DP. Right clicking on it will teleport you back to your spawn, instantly breaking your altar. It is made up of a cross of chiseled nether quartz with a nether star in the center, which is the statue, and 2 layers of nether quartz slabs on all three spaces to make the stand. Put the statue on top of the stand, and you get an altar, which radiates a small amount of light. Monsters are repelled by this gravestone. You can also replace the nether quartz with nether bricks to create a cursed altar. These altars are red and radiate a dark aura. They have the same effect as regualr altars, but the light they radiate is a redish black and it does not repel monsters. Instead, it spawns 2 monsters to guard you grave. These monsters, which are zombies wearing black clothes and a dark red creeper hood, have 20 health and do 5 damage. They despawn immediatly once the altar is broken and they drop nothing. They also cannot leave their gravestone's aura point. They also kill regualar monsters and wield shovels with dark red rods and black blade that inflicts blindness. Likewise, white altars summon lightning when someone or something who is not you is trying to break the altar. Gravestones are effected by gravity and are put down immediatly upon death. Tier 2, 3, and 4 graves are a 2x4 on the crafting table of that ingredient.
Then there are caskets. Caskets are crafted with a chest in the middle of the table with the material you have around it. You also put wool around your caskets to color them. Caskets hold your items when you die and are buried 1 block below ground when you die and are covered with dirt, sand, or gravel. Sometimes you will encounter them in cemetaries with live mobs inside of them. They can also have a deeper, darker purpose.. Wooden caskets can float on water, but last only 2 minutes and can be burnt. Stone caskets cannot float, but are fire and lava resistant and last for 4 minutes. Trap caskets damage other players opening them and send off a redstone signal. They are made of iron and are explosive and fire resistant, still cannot float, but last for 8 minutes. Obsidian caskets can float, and are resistant to everything, but cannot send off redstone signals. Finally, holy caskets are made of netherquartz with glowstone blocks around the edges. They have both the capabilities of trap and obsidian caskets plus anyone other than you attempting to open them will fail. Their dark version is made of nether bricks and soul sand corners. Both will hold a large chest full of items. Dark versions though, when attemted to be opened by an intruder, instead of treasure, a zombie priest pops out! (you know, those things I told you about before? Remember now?)
Finally cemetaries. They are dungeons found in villages with iron fence around them with quartz blockes inbetween every 1 fence. They are 3 blocks high and can have 5 to 15 graves in them. They have a small nether quartz pillar and block archway and one small room made of nether quartz in the center or corners that has an iron door. In order to get in, you must place an "offering" on one of the 2x1 pillars near the room which opens the door. Inside, you find a coffin and a button inside, and you have to see which block inside is chiseled or not. Putting the button on the chiseled block will send out a signal opening a secret passage operated by pistons. Inside will be a small (100x100) to a large (400x300) catacomb with dispenser and TNT carts, tripwires, fire charges, zombie and mobs in caskets, trap chests, and more in the huge catacomb maze, along with spawners. There is also the occasional ghost that while invincible, does only 2 damage. They can phase through walls though. At the end of the dungeon there is a large quartz throne with a gold block as the headrest, and 5 caskets lining each side wall, as well as a large diamond casket in the center which cannot be broken. In front of this casket there is a large chest with anything from saddles, potatoes, pumpkins, carrots, cocoa beans, and wheat to emeralds, diamonds, and iron and redstone and potions. Once opening it though, the door locks behind you, and you are forced into a BOSS BATTLE: THE VILLAGE WIZARD!!! The village wizard acts like the witch, but is male, has no wart, and wears a blue and yellow robe and hat. He shoots bolts of electricity at you and can summon creepers and supercharge them to kill you! He also has ten ghost villager guards, which wield emerald swords and fight to the death! The wizard is also a ghost. All these ghosts though, are able to be killed again. All ghosts are light blue and grayish. Lucky for you, the creepers the wizard summons do not break blocks! Unluckily for you, each guard has 10 health and the wizard has 30! Also, they each do 5 points of melee damage, and the wizard's spell does 12, but needs to charge up. His spell does not hurt his creepers though. Also, in the cemetaries, you will also face off against many jumping puzzles. MUAH HA HA!!! Once you beat the wizard, you can open his casket which has a wizard hat and robe, which have infinite durability and can be enchanted 5 times the normal level. The set is worth 2 armor all togther. He also drops his staff, which can summon friendly creepers that do not destroy blocksssssss or you and can also shoot lightning. It has a 5 second recharge though. Also, another dungeon will open up under the wizard's grave, which has a portal to the nether, and to an even harder dungeon! All this gravestone stuff would be used for people who are say, adventuring in an abandoned mineshaft, and die far away.

actually i also find this a good idea but i think that if you die a casket should be placed and then when you respawn a little arrow will point you too the casket and when you click on it it will open up like a large chest and contain the items you had before you died; it would be a great idea because then people wouldnt rage from minecraft and everyone would just be alot happier

Except that you're SUPPOSED to lose your items when you die, maybe if you had some kind of inv-saver item AND a casket in your inv and die, if it finds a valid place to place the casket, it is placed and you lose the inv-saver item. (Which should be fairly expensive so it is not overpowered)
