My idea for cauldrons is that you could use them to combine two separate potions into one potion but with both the effects of the two potions used.
Example:
Combining a strength 8:00 potion with a fire resistance 8:00 potion would give you one potion that has both of the effects.
The cauldron would have a GUI thing whenever clicked with anything other then a bucket of water (when empty) or a empty bottle (when it has water in it) it would have two input slots and one output slot.
You could also use it to get the extended level II potions currently only available in creative mode by combining an extended and a level II potion of the same type.
It would take two MC days for the potions to be combined.
You would not be able to combine a potion with multiple effects with another one.
For this the be done the cauldron would have to be empty.
The cauldron would have an appearance similar to the cauldrons when used for brewing back in the 1.9 snapshots whenever it has a potion in its GUI.
You would need to have an empty bottle in the output spot and 2 potions in the input slots for it to do anything.
You would be unable to combine a splash potion with a non splash (it has to be both splash or both non splash).
I am currently unsure whether combining non extended, level I potions should give you a level II potion or an extended potion.
To me you could just drink a strength and a fire resistance one after the other. Only benefit would be having 2 different effects that would normally have different effect times being combined into one.
My first thought with this was that the GUI would be unnecessary. You can simply employ a context sensitive use of right-click, as is already done with animal feeding, doors, End Portal frames, and the like. Right-click a non-splash potion on the cauldron, and you add it to the pot. Right-click with an empty bottle to get out the contents.
My second thought is that the two days to brew seems excessive. I have a few ideas to fix this.
Simplest, shorten the time.
The need to add a third "catalyst" ingredient.
Only use the cauldron for mixing, and use a brewing stand to convert a raw mixed potion into a finished blended one. Again, possibly needing a catalyst to fuel the process.
I had an idea similar to this myself, and am glad someone took the time to forward it. My idea was like AnonTheMouse's, but that there is a limit of three potions per bottle, because you can fill up three water bottles from one full cauldron. I also really like his idea for a catalyst, but the catalyst should be combined with the potion with the brewing stand.
Also maybe a combined potion would have a shorter duration, due to it being diluted. Then you would have to combine it with redstone again to lengthen it.
its a cool idea but u simple eat 2 potions but about taking too much space i already posted a new idea befor this:P anyway adding this idea make game cooler:P i like that idea

Other than that, this is a very cool idea. Support.
I thought being able to combine potions like that for free quickly would be a little overpowered.

I'm honestly fine with either one, but whichever way, I would use a ton of cauldrons.
Using XP to combine them then a short could work.
I am just not how it would deduct the XP, like it the levels are taking when you start the process or when you take the thing out or what.
Plus I thing XP has enough uses already.
