The minecraft terrain can be really boring especially after 1.7.3 but instead of bringing back old terrain I think mojang should add new land forms to the new terrain generation.
Spring and Geysers
Springs and geysers would be outlets of water poking from the ground and they would lead down to an underground lake. Geysers would be rare while springs would be common.

Sorry it is a little hard to see
Other Over World Land Forms
Another land form would be some kind of rock formation that would be like a tiny little mountain that is common.
Also uncommonly skulls would appear in numbers of 1-5
In large caves there could be room for a giant mushroom or two.
And craters about the size of a TNT explosion these would be common/uncommon
Nether Formations
In the nether we would need some formations too wouldn't we?
Rarely a batch of wither skulls would form containing 1-5 skulls.
Also like in the over world obsidian mini mountains as I call them would form commonly.
I hope you like this idea and if you want to support it hit that reputation button and comment on what you think should be changed as long as the comment isn't something stupid like ''I don't like obsidian so no support.''
More formations will come and the texture pack I used was faithful 32x32
Where the heck did you get the idea that they wanted the old terrain? The threads say that they want a new generator, not the old one.
Anyway, predictable formations to solve the predictability problem? It's a nice touch, but it won't solve the problem. Also, most of the pictures are broken.

Did something happen to you in your childhood to give you this unreasonable fear of rutabaga?

I am not saying to fix predictable terrain but to spice it up a little bit and people want a new generator like 1.7.3 so thats where i got that idea and they always show pictures of old terrain.

Yes, it'll spice up the terrain, but it'll still be boring. That's like putting icing on a rock; the icing is good, but the meal is still disgusting/inedible.
