I am sure that there are plenty of mods/ other people who have already had this idea, but I think that it is useful. I think that obsidian should be usable to make flint. I know that flint can be obtained through gravel, and that arrows can be harvested from skeletons, but I have found that arrow harvesting forces the player to focus on melee more than I think should be done, and gravel is annoying to work with. The way the obsidian would come into play would be that one block would yield 9 pieces of flint in a crafting table, but not the other way around, so that its not OP. In real life, the hunter-gatherers all around the world used obsidian flakes to make their arrow tips for centuries, and I think that it is needed in Minecraft. If you disagree, please add a reason, or it will be counted as spam.

Your brain is so powerful, it would take a state of the art computer the size of a factory to come even close to matching the processing power.
This seems pretty inefficient, and also flint is already very, very easy to get anyways.
Step 1: Take gravel
Step 2: Mine it
Step 3: If it doesn't yield any flint, take it with you and keep mining it UNTIL you get flint.
Step 4: Profit.
No support.
The problem with that? It takes a very long time to turn a stack of gravel into a stack of flint. Although perhaps obsidian is too high-powered for such a use as this(seeing as how arrows become unnecessary once you have ethier a skeleton farm or an infinity bow)
I am not saying to remove any other use for it, just add a new one.

Anyway, I do support
Feed my dragons please
Quartz maybe, not Obsidian.

I really dont care if its quartz or obsidian, but Fortune 3 is rare, and hunter-gatherers did use obsidian for their arrow heads
