I would just like to suggest a way to place NPCs (testificates or Steve clones) around in Creative or Adventure Mode (with cheats on for the builders of the adventure map; not necessarily players of the map) to add more life to an Adventure map.
Ideally, you should be able to make them static or wander around like they do now, but also with the option of making them "usable" so, as a map builder, you could tie them to /commands and output text, so you could build quests for the players of your adventure, without using boring signs and command blocks.
No, they don't. You didn't read the suggestion; The idea is to place NPCs or Steve Clones around and make them act as NPCs often do in, say, The Elder Scrolls. Talk to an npc the map builder has tied a command or trigger to, progress in the story of the map. I've seen this in AdventureCraft. Maps like Journey to the Aether...and really every map I've played on it, pretty much. However, considering AdventureCraft only goes up to...1.7.3 isn't it? This would be useful for you know...Adventurecraft but up to date.
I support; It's hard to get into a story when your quest giver is a sign.
Exactly. It would really give more flexibility for us who make Adventure maps to make our worlds seem not-so-empty. The modding potential is also increased, just with my somewhat simple implementation of this, I could see mods that allow custom textures, markers over the head, followers, etc.
