No one is currently programming this, it is not real. The picture you see is just a picture, not a program. We are hoping for Notch to, in this millennium, see this idea and make it a reality. An official version, that is, not a 3rd party program lacking proper support.
There are no dangers of the mob creator, there are only dangers that you let happen to yourself by allowing a certain mob to spawn in your level. If a server owner adds a mob to their server that you don't like, complain to them or leave. The mob spawner concept can't be held accountable for cheap item drops or invincible mobs (or lousy mobs).
Again, if you want to show your support (for anyone who missed this earlier), go HERE

Just search the internet for a mod that gives you a mob of your liking, if you cant find one. Suggest it. No need for a 3rd party program.
It would still be nice to have an official (not 3rd party) mob creator. you could tweak things to your liking when ever you wanted, without pestering the mod programmer. the mods are bound to have no real firm support for bugs anyways, and leave a possibility of corrupting files due to bad programming
by the way, a mod is a 3rd party program :wink.gif:

I'd honestly also be interested in something like this that allowed you to edit your character in fantastic ways. Though of course being immune to lava or fire would be right out unless you can prove you wouldn't abuse that; maybe an achievement system that unlocks new special things your character AND mobs you make to do?
It depends... the OP said he does NOT want the only person on here willing to make it (i.e. me) to do so. He ONLY wants if it Notch hands it down from on high... So, if that's the case... I'm willing to bet never...

Geeze, have you guys NEVER played a MMO like WoW or EQ? When there's a mega badass boss who's insanely powerful and immune to things, we make a RAID PARTY of 50 ppls and kick his tail!

Well I was pointing out that third party programs sometimes lack the right support, which is why I was hoping Notch would be the one to do it. I didn't put a lot of stress on ONLY Notch doing it, I just implied it would be more convenient to have it be official (not that notch offers a whole lot of support for minecraft anyways). This doesn't stop you from doing it though :wink.gif:
The actual OP (Krelos) of the thread said it would most likely be a third party program, btw
it's still his idea, I just wanted to help it along a bit and add to it
I had a dream of something like this a few days ago! i dreampt that an update came out for a mob creator, so i made my fist mod a mixture of a creeper and a smile, i called it,"Death Blob" then i created Herobrine for the fun of it.
How about making the mob creation limited to some achievements in game, like Little Big Planet does on their story maps?
Yes, this would be awesome to have "mob pieces" skattered about like Stickers on LBP, but unless Notch makes a radical change in his code, there is no good hook for a system like this and ultimately it (and a lot of sub-systems) would have to be built from the ground up.

Hey0, Runecraft/llamacraft, and Craftbook are all 3rd party and gennerally have updates rolled out within 72 hours of a patch, I'd say that's good support (and yes, mad props to them! )
As long as the MC Coder Tools stays up to date (which sadly it's broken atm) I hope to be able to patch the mob maker quickly (the hooks for where to insert mobs were (in alpha) clearly defined, so it's just a matter of keeping up with changes to the spawn classes) The program itself essentially just takes "human" input (selection blocks, etc) and converts it to obfuscated (?) code and inserts it into the right class within Minecraft.jar
I would like to emphasize that this program will (at least initially) be a single-player mod because I dont know all the server hooks, however in time I hope to add support for servers (also right now if you add a new entity/block/recipe/etc to the server, all clients connected will need to patch it in or we get the "invisible mobs" bug)
When I get the alpha release I will post a dedicated thread and link it here :happy.gif: (currently looking at a hybrid FLASH/JAVA platform for coding, but I'm open to suggestions)
(In the future)

that sounds interesting
you better screen record it because it will only appear on your game
(since the mob file is local to your computer unless you share it)

GENERATION 21: The first time you see this, copy it into your sig on any forum and add 1 to the generation
but it would seem that people would spam it so some mobs drop diamond blocks.
