(I checked the "Already posted topics" sticky, this idea wasn't in it.)
a friend of mine and myself were contemplating on renting a minecraft server to publicly show off our creative works, but we can't agree on the game mode to use.
I like to play creative mode - infinite block use, all blocks available, makes it faster and easier to create masterpieces.
my friend likes survival mode - have to hunt and build your parts from scratch ("legit" he claims, tho misuse of the term)
we've argued for about 20 minutes over which game mode to use, before coming to a hypothetical compromise:
"hybrid" mode - a combination of the two where you have to hunt and build the parts, have a limited survival-mode inventory, but blocks from your inventory/hotbar have infinite use.
discarded / dropped blocks vanish instantly to prevent trading (reap what you sow) while chests, furnaces, etc. can only be used and/or destroyed by the person who made/placed them.
yes, but two (or more) people on the same server at the same time constantly changing modes to suit their own liking is hardly the best option.
the last thing I want to do is having to spam /gamemode every time I want to build something complex.
the last thing he wants to do is having to spam /gamemode to remain "legit"
Sounds like too much for a gamemode. It literally takes 5 seconds to type /ga, hit tab, and choose 0 or 1. For now just use the Macro/Keybind mod and set a survival keybind and a creative keybind.
