Hi everyone. When I noticed that nether quartz was going to be developed in the next update, I had this idea:
Why not crafting nether quartz dust, with nether quartz? (NQ=Nether quartz)
Because NQ is used to create electronic components...
It is like: You obtain NQ, put it in one space of a crafing table (or inventory crafting). You will obtain 1 nether quartz dust every 1 nether quartz mineral.
But it is not all: NQ dust has a particularity: It will not join redstone dust (normal redstone wires), so we will be able to create smaller circuits and machines (more compact).
To join NQdust with redstone, we will need a redstone or NQ block (any of them) between the wires we want to join.
I don´t know if it's a good idea that NQ dust could conduct signals upto 20 blocks instead of 15, NQdust would be more used that redstone.
Another idea: Why not crafting non-delay repeaters with nether quartz?
I gave this idea, because official update is going to be developed.
what about NQ wire being like fiber optic, it goes further, and faster, however, it needs a NQ - redstone converter to convert it back into redstone signal, because NQ isn't powerful enough to run anything (like pistons or lights), and also, it would have to be converted back into redstone signal (1 tick for conversion) for any logical stuff, like gates, i think this would be enough to make it handy but not replace redstone
Hm. You know, that's an interesting idea.
I'm not sure where I stand on it, but this much I do know:
The biggest contributing factor of whether this item would be useless, awesome, or OP, would be the qualities of the new dust versus Redstone dust. On one hand, they could have exactly the same properties; the new use would be that they don't connect, basically allowing players to have 2 wires in the same relative space, and can therefore make things compact, with the downside that you basically just reskinned redstone dust. On the other, you could give Quartz dust a special quality, like, it can be placed underwater, but have a lower signal strength, which would be neat but might render redstone obsolete.
What I'm getting at here is that this is a cool idea, that I'm not sure if I want. But I definitely want to see it discussed, preferably be people who aren't me because I am TERRIBLE at redstone and so my opinion really shouldn't be considered. I dunno enough about how minor tweaks would affect balance, or all the awesome things the community has made.
Anyway, work on it a bit, and good luck!

I hope you like my idea; bye.
Isn't that from the "For the critics" topic?
OT, I don't like this idea. I'm not sure why, I just get this feeling like I wouldn't like it in the game.
Sorry, but no support.
