TL;DR: Make mobs yours with some crafting recipes and time.
So I came up with an idea that would give more use to slimeballs. It would give you the ability to make animals yours. What you would do to make it would require some items. First, you get a slimeball and some dyes. You would arrange them in the crafting bench like so:
D D D
D S D
D D D
(S for slimeballs and D for dye)
This would yield a new item: Colored Gel (Has the same color as dye used)
Colored gel by itself isn't very useful except you can throw it for no reason but fun, because who doesn't like throwing stuff?
But then comes the use for it. Gather a mob's drop and craft it with the same formation above, but replace slime with Colored Gel and dye with mob's drop. This yields 3 (Mob Name) Extract.
You then craft one extract with an empty bottle and a blaze rod in arrow formation with rod on top, extract in center, and bottle on bottom. This gives us an (Mob) Extract Dart. Then you simply waltz up to the mob the extract is from, and they become your slave, getting a tint of the dye used and gets the nametag of Player's Mob These slaves are controlled like wolves and cats. You can get them to follow you and fight for you. (If they're able to!) Only some mobs could be controlled though. These are Skeletons, Zombies, Blazes, Slimes/Magma Cubes, Pigmen, Spiders, Endermen, Silverfish and all peaceful mobs. You could mount spiders using saddles! You could give Zombies, Skeletons, and Pigmen armor and weapons too! But, if you fail to domesticate the mob, there is a small chance that they will instantly explode in your face.
Tell me what you think and give some constructive criticism if you don't like it, don't just say "I dun liek eet."
I can't support this. I think that being able to control not only peaceful mobs but also most hostile is ridiculously overpowered. Combine that with the fact that it's extremely easy to get the supplies necessary to brand a mob, and you could pretty much play hard as if it were peaceful after collecting a few mob drops.

Meh. To me this seems like sort of a silly mechanic to make every mob besides creepers into a pet at some point. The materials to get for this are not hard to get at all, but it's not only that - simply put, it's overpowered. This sort of ruins the purpose of running from everything when you can just shoot them up with a foreign substance.
