So i was thinking.... what if minecraft had blocks that players could push? This would be only for certain blocks though and it would add some cool new mechanics to work with. They could push the blocks North, South, East West, and downwards if the block is affected by gravity. Just an idea, and then we could also have some sort of pressure plate that detects when a block has been pushed onto it. Please comment and support if you like, if anyone else has like a diagram or something i could post on here to show it let me know.
UPDATE: Now called slide command as the best way to implement this would be giving command blocks a slide command because sliding blocks in survival may affect the gameplay, but would be perfect for adventure maps.
This actually sounds kind of useful. If we get the BUD detector we are supposedly getting then this could have a thousand different uses for puzzles and redstone circuitry.

See, I have it in my head that there would be a sort of slider or trolley item involved in making this work. It would sync up with a rail system on the floor and either move with a right-click or on collision, depending on whether the tracks were powered or not. Past that I'm hazy on any details I could suggest. Anyway, thanks for kindling my creative juices. I hope my input helps

Watch me mine for crafts, craft mines, fall down shafts and do a bunch of other things that may or may not involve blocks.
Im still not sure though of how to classify which blocks move and which dont. Like if they added a new block, how could we decide it should move or not. Maybe add something to the block in the crafting table and you get a sliding block?
hmm.. im no programmer or anything, so im not really 100% sure how hard it would be to add to the game. Im gonna change the title to slide command though.
Someone recently released a mod for something like this. Maybe it can shed some light on what might this feature would do. http://www.minecraft...ocks-from-grid/

Curse PremiumCould Set like a Cmd like
/set slide "block id"
/set slide 42
that means the Iron blocks Can be pushed
if you say /set slide 42 again it resets the command.
Could Work well in Combination with Command Blocks.
Should change topic name to "Slide command" it get more attention.
