I feel that the default Minecraft world size can be overwhelming sometimes, especially for a single player offline session. You can spend HOURS looking for a village for example.
I would like to see the current world size be defined as Large and have a Small and Normal sized world added to help keep games more manageable. Just as options, mind you.
I'm not talking only about overall map size but also the proximity of items such as villages, etc. to each other and to the spawn point.
Perhaps with a small map, maybe you would get cows, sheep, pigs, ducks, melon seeds, village with carrots, etc. all within say 1,000 blocks of a spawn point?
Not sure, but just something as a start for discussion.
Didn't we already have those options in Indev? They were removed for a good reason. I'm not saying your idea is bad, but the map generation programming has come a long, long way to go back to that. This might work as a mod. With fixed map sizes, can't you risk permanently running out of some resources?

Yeah, I kind of did. He said "I'm not talking only about overall map size but also the proximity of items such as villages, etc. to each other and to the spawn point." That gives off the impression he's suggesting both fixed size worlds and closer resources.
If he's just suggesting things be closer to the spawn point, then that seems like a cop-out to reduce the need for exploration and makes the game spoon feed you a bit more than needed.
