I am still new to MineCraft, but so far I, along with my boys, are enjoying ourselves.
Playing with the map, would an ability to create a map wall be useful to anyone else? I know for me it would be very helpful in planning my next excursion to explore.
I don't imagine it would be terribly difficult, but then again, I am just a user. In my opinion, I think it would be simple to modify the painting, but instead of wool, put the map piece. Then, each map piece would be a section of the map wall. Once placed next to each other (part puzzle) they could be used to form a map wall. Would look good in a trophy room, or for planning explorations.
If I understand this correctly, you're suggesting we can place maps on walls, and have them connect to form larger maps?
The only question I have with that is if you map one section of land five thousand or so blocks away from another section of land, and then placing the maps of both land sections next to eachother. Would they still merge? Because that'd be both funny and misleading.
This is a much more efficient way of doing it but as it stands you can actually have a wall of maps. This is how I do it. By simply creating a map of a region, placing it in an item fram and then repeating this process by placing them in the appropriate places on the wall.
Also Welcome and for your first post this is actually a pretty decent idea. Good work.

Humanity is the creation of Logic and Emotion, Calculation and Imagination, Cold Analysis and Blind Faith. This is why I believe it is a strange Human that would prize one while shunning the other. For a calculator can do math just as well as you, but a calculator can not use math to make the world a better place.
@GiveMeCake - Part of the challenges of building real life map walls (I've done a few of these) is the borders and overlaps. Fortunately for RL maps, they have grids to tell you which map is in which direction. In this case, one will have to have exceptional management skills of the map region.
Thanks everyone.

Any thoughts? Go easy, n00b here!
Thanks
