As we know, both the game lighting and the scheme of the lighting has been changed a couple times. I think they should improve the lighting as well as the appearance in general (not pixel art, just lighting stuff etc.)
And as for cow bells, I think this should be a good way to tame cows. The cowbells make a sound and you can find your cows real easy from the other cows... And if you tame the cow, it should be able to be saddled. Also, the reason this is a good idea is because of the fact that cows are the source of enchanting tables... plus, who doesn't want a pet cow?
You gave us no detail for the lighting part, all you said is "they should improve the lighting as well as the appearance in general" and nothing more. Why do we need to tame cows? Doesn't wheat get the job done?

Tame =/= Breed.
What good does taming a cat do? It does not fight for you and it is specific to one mob and it does more bad than good. Sits on chests and you cannot even open it.
Cows provide meat and leather. Leather is imporant for books which is important for enchanting. A cow with a cow bell means it's yours. Possible saddle feature with this.
And to be honest, I'm not a coder, I do not know what is and what is not possible. All I know is: the appearance is getting dull. Make things more Vivid, not dull. Vivid colors are more "inspiring" and more minecraft-like.
I hate it looks so dull, I've been dealing with it, but I wish they'd vivid something up. They should make cave lighting dull and dim and spooky. Outside lighting with sun should be bright and vivid and colorful! Not dull...
Um... This is a wish list... And should be treated as such. Lighting is getting an overhaul in I believe 1.5, and go into depth with the cow breeding thing.
This is indeed a wish list 2 ideas or more that are unrelated or works off each other Counts as Wish list.
If by "works off each other" you mean like flow... Then this does not belong in there. Where is Wish List? I apologize - I haven't actually been active in the Forums for over 5 months... Just made a server thread and posted occasionally.

Expand on that lighting thing. What's up with that? Is lighting being upgraded or just tweaks to fix bugs?
Tame =/= Breed. I'm... well aware of that. But what use do we have by taming cows?
What good does taming a cat do? It does not fight for you and it is specific to one mob and it does more bad than good. Sits on chests and you cannot even open it. No other mob in the Overworld is as destructive as the Creeper, so the chance to keep him away from your house is there. I do agree about cats sitting on your stuff though. I thought that was kind of a hurr durr moment on Jeb's part. Just because cats can be annoying in real life doesn't it's a must have for the game. But I'm getting off track.
Cows provide meat and leather. Leather is imporant for books which is important for enchanting. A cow with a cow bell means it's yours. Possible saddle feature with this. Okay see... Again, why do need to tame them just for making them follow us when wheat already does this? I don't think the saddle thing is needed for cows. I think the pig only dropping one resource is made up for with the saddle. Compared to cows and chickens, and sheep that can give you infinite wool.
And to be honest, I'm not a coder, I do not know what is and what is not possible. All I know is: the appearance is getting dull. Make things more Vivid, not dull. Vivid colors are more "inspiring" and more minecraft-like. Oh wow. That actually makes me respect you and your suggestion a bit more. I salute you. Everyone else comes in and spews out "it would be so easy to code so get on it mojang!!!" Despite these people not having the faintest damn clue about programming of any kind.

Outside lighting with sun should be bright and vivid and colorful! Not dull... The lighting could use some tweaks here and there, but the lighting system we have now is still very quirky and can be very laggy for some players even with the best PC's. I think some fixes should come first, then extras later. So I support better lighting after some fixes.

I have actually looked into coding in Java. I heard the language to start off with, I believe, was C or C+ or it might have been Java. Regardless, Java seemed somewhat easy, but hard in a sense that I can't organize the structure for , so that's more on my end. I know things can be hard - I'm not sure if I'm the only one who does this but when I play a game, I think of the details of the coding, and how hard it must've been to code it. For example, Assassin's Creed. I'm not sure, but I think that's got one of the first climbing engines like that, I could only imagine animating, coding, graphics, etc. etc. Please tell me I'm not alone!
Do you know why pigs have the the saddles? Because otherwise, it would be the least useful peacefull mob. Cows drop leather and meat, and can be milked. Pigs only have the meat. If you gave saddles to cows as well, then you would never need to have pigs at all, because a cow farm would give you what pigs give, and even more (leather, milk)
