So, because of the Trap Chest, I thought of a new Furnace idea.
It would work similar to the trap chest, except ofcourse you don't store anything in it, and also it would cook faster than a regular furnace.
But it depends on how much Redstone it's holding.
An example Redstone Furnace texture (Mojang can make their own though, ofcourse, I just thought of it being a red furnace, I wasn't that sure of a texture):
The other textures for the furnace would be red, also, but the fire would stay the same color.
An example GUI:
"furnace_redstone.png"
You see only 2 differences, and those are the extra slot plus the blank sprite. That slot would hold the redstone it needs.
You can cook like a normal furnace, even without redstone, but if you put Redstone in the extra slot, stuff will cook/smelt faster. However, the redstone is used up, too.The redstone sprite would fill when redstone is put in, speeding up the smelting process by 1.5.When the redstone sprite is blank again, you would need to put more redstone in.Thanks to Kekilrocks123 for the idea plus the new GUI.He said for 4 uses, but I thought the smelting process would go back to normal speed after the redstone sprite is empty, then you need more redstone, since if you could only do it 4 times, making a lot more speed, you wouldn't have to wait like on the other furnace, even though you wait shorter anyway.
Also, the furnace can create a Redstone signal, depending how much redstone is in the slot.
The combination of the redstone making the smelting process go faster and the redstone signal would use up redstone faster. If Mojang decides to add this, they can just take off the faster-smelting idea though, and put the signal thing. Not like it matters.I find this a more challenging way, making you need more redstone. If you're not smelting anything, the redstone will only be used for a redstone signal, but still be consumed.
An example recipe for the furnace:
The redstone dust making it have redstone properties, and the blaze powder giving it extra power.
Or the redstone dust could be replaced with redstone blocks, making you have to mine more.
I thought this would be a good addition, since there is going to be a new redstone-related chest, and to me the Workbench, Furnace, and Chest tend to be related in a way.(Maybe because you would probably put them side-by-side in a starter house, or they're all basic blocks you use near the beginning of the game to craft, smelt, and store stuff.)
Feedback is welcome, even bad feedback.Do not say something like "This stinks" though without a good reason. This would help improve the idea.
I think it sounds cool. It would add more uses for redstone in survival, especially for those who don't use redstone much in it. I'd probably send a bit of redstone out of my projects to work on smelting things way faster. How many items does each piece of redstone last? And how much faster does it make it?
Some people might use this, but I wouldn't. Space is nearly infinite, so I would probably just have a large Forge room anyways.

I modified your image to show how I would like it. I think it would work best if each piece of redstone sped it up by 1.5x, for 4 uses.
^my image for a better gui for it^
It would take a piece of redstone and then the blank redstone sprite would fill up the whole way. Then, after each use, it would get lower (like the fire/cooking sprite) until it was empty and needed a new piece of redstone dust again.

Thanks, it has been added to the post. However, I thought it would just speed up by 1.5 then go back to normal after the redstone sprite is empty, because if you can only use the redstone 4 times, it wouldn't be that much of a redstone furnace after that, aside from the redstone signal and texture.
I think this looks like an alright idea, especially the blaze powder. I was all ready to yell at you about making it cheap, when you added that in. Good job.

Support.
You know how expensive repeaters are? Lamps?
They eat up redstone like it's nothing.
It might be overly plentiful for those who don't use it, but for those who actually do every dust of it is valuable.
As for the idea, partial support.
