Hello everyone! So, today I was playing Minecraft and messing around with potions. Splash Potions specifically. And then I had an idea, and figured I would post it here. It's a small suggestion, but I think it would be amazing! What if you could charge up splash potions when you throw them, like you charge up bows?
It would basically be just like it is now, easy to spam click potions on the ground (Just like you can do with bows to spam arrows.) but you could also hold the right click instead of just clicking, to hold it longer, pull it back farther, and then throw it with more force.
Why would you want to? Well, the potions would be able to move farther, thus there effect could hit things farther away. This would be extremely useful in a mob trap design where the mobs landed above you. You need to kill them all at once, but your instant damage splash potion falls back down? Well, throw it farther, and it will go farther, thus hitting the mobs, and not having it fall back down. It would go about 15 or so blocks, not nearly as far as an arrow, on flat land. As well as when you throw it, it will negate the potion effect a bit.
Another reason, is that when you throw it, when you charge it up, and it hits a mob or player, it will deal a bit of damage to them, aside from the effect. From the impact, of course. It wouldn't be much, but it would be enough to add a difficulty curve to this idea.

Anything in italics is things that someone has suggested, and makes it better. If it's in bold, it's an idea I or someone else had but am not sure about.
I can see how this could be overpowered. A couple of Potions of Harming II being launched at long distance would kill just about anything.

Yes but arrows don't affect everything in an X block Radius. You need to be accurate with them.

Perhaps the larger the distance thrown, the smaller the radius of splash?
Something like every metre thrown, splash - x.
Maybe, when you throw the potion, a bit of it will splash on the ground, creating a small trail of the effect to the landing point, where the big splash is..? Obviously the splash would be smaller then, since some of it "fell out"
That just seems a bit too specific for Minecraft though.
