Iron-covered Redstone
This would be crafted by putting a row or 3 redstone down the middle of the crafting table and a row of iron on either side; the output would be 16 Iron-covered Redstone. This would have 2 purposes. First, iron-covered redstone would be impervious to water, meaning that if there was a sudden flood or if you wanted to place the redstone underwater it would not be destroyed and would function normally. The second possible use to the iron-covered redstone would be that it can only connect to 2 redstone pieces at a time. I find that redstone wires that i want separated always tend to get come near each other at one point or another which can completely screw up the contraption I'm making. Although redstone repeaters can only be connected to 2 wires, it delays the redstone signal by one tick, which can also screw up your machine's purpose. So, like vertical redstone, iron-covered redstone would take up less room plus it would work under water.
Vertical Redstone
I have always wished that redstone could climb up walls and it seems like a simple enough feature to be added. It would make some redstone contraptions much easier to create and would take up a lot less room.
Extendable Piston
This contraption would be created by placing 3 normal pistons or three sticky pistons on the top row of the crafting grid; a stone block (not cobblestone like in the normal piston recipe), iron ingot, then another stone block on the second row ; then on the bottom row there would be yet another stone block, a redstone block (which is included in the latest snapshot), then a final stone block. This may seem like a costly amount of items for an extendable piston, but it's worth it because this new and improved pistons length is editable. At first the extendable piston's arm is only 2 blocks long, which is very good for things such as secret doors and an elevator for a room with a very short ceiling, but what if you want more? By right-clicking the piston a screen will pop up. Here you can place up to 12 sticks in the extandable piston to make it's arm longer. One thing that could maybe be looked at as a bad thing is that for every block longer that the piston arm is extended by, that block will have to be powered. However, this is useful in many cases such as a long elevator. Say you want to go to the 3rd floor of a 4 story building, how would you get off on that floor? Since each block after the 2nd block needs to be powered you would be able to power ONLY the blocks up to the 3rd story, you could also be able to call the elevator to your floor by powering the blocks that go up to your floor. (Hopefully what I'm saying here makes sense, if not I'll try to explain it better)
Colored Redstone Lamps
These lamps would be created by placing a redstone lamp in the center of the crafting table, with glass surrounding the edges of it and dyes (they all must be the same color) on the corners. When placed, the lamp would be almost transparent and would look like colored glass, which is a good feature on it's own. But once powered, a colored lamp would then become opaque and produce the same level of light as a normal redstone lamp or glowstone, while also tinting the surrounding blocks with it's color. This block would be very useful for decorations.
A few little random, non-redstone related features I'd like added in 1.5:
-Fish mobs
-Verticle half slabs
-Flying pigs
-Fireplace blocks

"Iron-covered" and "Vertical" redstone have been previously suggested in various forms. They are also essentially the same thing, or at least could easily be the same thing.
I believe that an "extendable" piston would cause problems with the game mechanics. If I'm wrong, then I'd like some version of an extendable piston, too.
The lighting engine cannot yet produce many different colors. In fact, as I understand it you can only have "sunlight" (white), "candle/torch" (yellow) and "moonlight" (blue). And I'm not certain about white. Sunlight may just be a very bright yellow in-game.
Nice ideas, but they've either already been hashed over many times or they're not possible with the current game engine (or both).
