There has always been that time when you wanted to build a TNT cannon. Maybe you never got how to build it right, or never got the materials. But I have been brewing up an idea for a while.
My idea is focused TNT. You could surround TNT with obsidian or bedrock on certain sides. Then, the rest of the uncovered block would have the power of the covered block combined with the un-covered block. Here is a diagram.
Here is regular TNT:(T=Tnt,0=unnefected, - is effected [not accurate power])

Here is all but one-side-covered-TNT:(^=Obsidian)

This diagram would effect light, too. The light would continue without effecting anything that it does not come into direct contact with. As it continues, it will appear to be a beam, slightly less focused than that of a beacon.
