Please understand, this would only be on difficultly modes: 1. Hard 2. Hardcore
Moving on, this suggestion is to add more of an ' challenge' to a player at any moment it rains.
So, when it rains at whatever time, any structure with no roof, or ponds & rivers, they will flood.
Here is an Ex.
Ex: This is an pond, though it is not full to the top, so when it rains, it will raise to the highest level of the pond/river. Though, eventually it will over-flow, as-in
From that, it can destroy objects, as like picture frames, flood tunnels, etc.
Though, the player does not have to remove the water, in an certain time, the water will recede.
Also in ponds and rivers.
Too prevent this, all you need to-do is build a roof to prevent a flood in your house.
Floods are an additional challenge for those who like obstacles.
Some Additional Details
-Floods only occur in ponds, surrounding walls with no roof.
-Floods cannot flood mines, unless a pond/river is connected to one and if a player creates an tunnel from an house without an roof and that tunnel is connected to an cave.
-Floods die down when 1 minute after the rainstorm has ended.
-You cannot drown in floods in an house, because the water only raises 1 - 2 levels.
- You cannot fish in over-flowing ponds or in flooded house.
-Floods can destroy paintings, grass, flowers, etc.
- squids can spawn in flooded houses and in over-flowing ponds and rivers, may just be edited later on.
-If an furnace, chest, crafting table, bed or any block is in the way ion the first level of your house (floor) water will flow over it.
-if a little hole is open in the roof, or half, the house will flood still.
-same with ponds, if tree leaves are in the way, it will still flood.
-you can use a bucket to get rid of the water, but it will come back.
All you need is a roof? Do you realize how many rails are built on and how many torches are placed on sea level? Do you know how many cave entrances are on sea level or lower?
Think this through: If something floods, it's not just the player's house that gets affected, it's everything. Everything would be flooded, it would just be a built-in greifing mechanism.
Regardless of difficulty setting, the game should not grief for you. That's not challenge, that's annoying, that's not fun, that's a pain to deal with.

If caves are connected to the ocean floor, either way, it will still flood. (if you have read it correctly, it does not flood mines anyways)
Also, after an flood, and when the rainstorm has finished the flood disappears 1 minute later.

If you want too, use this.

[quote=Badgerz]You have to keep in mind that people are stupid.
[quote=Catelite]Just because you don't understand how something works, doesn't make it broken or pointless. >_<
