Would this mean that Minecraft would sync with world time? This might be a little too long a day for some, as those who like battling mobs at night will be in bed in real life, and never actually get to fight them. Also, this defeats the purpose of in-game beds, as they cause the time to skip to daytime. However, it is an option, so I could live with it. It would be useful for Creative mode, as you said, since it would never be night in Minecraft during the day. I think this is an interesting idea, but it needs some improvement and more detail.

Time flies like an arrow, but fruit flies like a banana.

Yes, the Real Time would synce with the World Time. Didn't think about the bed thing, maybe it would disable the Sleep Feature when enabled and just reset your spawn point. If anyone wants to expand on the idea, feel free... : )
I'm trying to see the benefits of a longer (real time) day in Minecraft, I do believe servers (bukkit) CAN already do this in a manner of speaking. I cannot really see any reason to support this even optionally to be honest.
Perhaps you can change my mind, I'm willing to listen.
All Pokemon games for GBA and DS Series have real-life time parameters based on the system's clock. It is pretty obvious if you actually play the games and trust me, I have played every single Pokemon game, I should know this.

EVEN if it was inspired by pokemon, who gives a damn? That's my point. Just because it was obviously inspired by something doesn't necessarily mean it's good or bad.

if it's just daylight you are concerned with then I'd suggest separating the sun position from ticks entirely (16.6 ticks per min would actually make the game feel like swimming in ice cold molasses, as the game actually runs on something close to 20 ticks[game events] per sec)

Not very obvious. The Day/Night cycle barely does anything to change the game except for changing one or two Pokemon in the tall grass.

Curse Premium'/Time lock'
- Freezes Time at the Current Tick
- reSetting Time does not unlock Tick
- Pro: Good for Creative Mode, Beginner Servers, Special Purpose Servers
- Con: Slightly cheating in Single Player as Mobs would never spawn on Surface if locked during the day
'/time mode x'- Mode 0 denotes Minecraft Default Game Tick
- Mode 1 denotes Real Time (Roughly 16.667 Ticks per Minute)
- Single Player (Real Time reflects Client's Computer Time)
- Multiplayer (Real Time reflects Server's Time)
- Pro: New Day/Night Experience
- Pro: More Realistic Day/Night Cycle
- Con: Slower Gameplay on Surface
Note: Don't know if my math was right, but the a Game Day is 24,000 Ticks and there's 1,440 minutes in a day:24,000 / 1,440 = 16.667~ Ticks per Minute
Let me know what you guys think... : )

Neat Idea!
I think though, this should be an option in the menu & main menu
